ACK!!! Itching like crazy!!!

So on Saturday I woke up VERY itchy for no reason! Just in random spots and very strange places like inside my ears and the side of my face, and my neck, and chest and back etc... Its terrible! I havent eaten or used any different lotion etc... Hasnt gone away...No rashes...Well, now there are red and bumpy areas cause I keep scratching...Ack! Is this a symptom or just something random??

Itching was one of my first problems. I had hot, itchy feet. I would wake in the middle of the night itching my feet. The bottoms of my feet itched the worst. I'm not dx so I can't tell you if it is a symptom for sure or not. I do have it and it is a pain in the rear. Someone had mentioned trying benadryl, I have not tried it yet because benadryl always makes me tired. If you find something that works let me know!

By any chance have any of you asked your neuros about this?? What do they say?? Do they say its MS related?

I suffer from an extremely itchy ear...but it's a fungal infection, notoriously hard to treat, and have a special ointment for it. It is NOT related to having MS. And then there is one patch on my back, near my right shoulder blade...but again, not MS related. My primary care doctor (who treats all my health concerns, including anything to do with MS) says it's probably a mild psoriasis.

Winter is very hard on the skin. As soon as the furnace is on regularly, the inside air dries up dramatically, as does the skin. It might be that.

Itching can be a MS symptom but as uppity said, there is such a thing as the winter itch. One reason is the drier air from the heater as uppity mentioned. Another reason that a dermatologist told me is that in the winter time we tend to use warmer water during our showers and when wash our hands. Some strategies are turn down the temperature of the water, gently blot your skin with a towel making sure to leave some moisture on your skin instead of a vigorous rub down, and then apply a moisturizing lotion while still a bit damp from your shower.

I did experience itching during my flare but it was only in one, distinct place. I'm not a doctor, but I don't think itching in widely scattered places is likely to be MS related.
