I'm new to this forum, but for quite awhile, I spoke to the Lyme forum. Here's my background. I know the symptoms are very similar, but my Lyme test came back with only a positive 41 band, which I know means I could still have Lyme. My initial reasoning was that I had been camping, was bitten by what I thought was a spider and then developed ringworm and a lot of strange symptoms very shortly thereafter.
So, my thoughts are this: I read that some folks with MS have some kind of event prior to their first thought that something may be wrong. I wonder if a severe bacterial infection like the ringworm, which I'm still fighting, could have gotten it started. There are a couple of things that have been going on for a few years, such as blurry vision off and on in my right eye (which I thought was glucose related) and my right arm going numb (which I thought was from too much typing). Then a few months ago, suddenly (and I mean within an hour) it felt like somebody was stabbing my left foot with an icepick, it then ran up my leg and then to both legs, then to both arms, then I started getting vertigo and confusion. This went on for a couple of weeks. Some other things have happened as well (headaches, backaches, loss of concentration, excessive thirst, etc.), but most symptoms are virtually gone with the exception of very sore leg muscles - from my butt to my feet, and this almost constant "rippling" of my leg muscles. I do get, but very rarely, "zingers".
I'm wondering about the pertinence of having a positive band 41 and the ringworm. Has anyone had a Lyme test or gotten a positive band 41, but didn't have Lyme?
I am in shape - I rollerbladed most days, walked, ran two miles every other day, the kids couldn't even keep up with me. I actually still feel much better when moving than when sitting still as long as I don't overdo it.
My doctor wanted me to get an MRI and leg muscle probe (forget what it's called) ASAP, but am waiting for the new year due to insurance reasons.
So, any thoughts?
