I just wanted to share a trip that I just took.  I was dignosed last year at this time and I just hit the one year mark on Avonex.  Last year I was afraid that my life was going to change drastically.  I was very wrong.  I don't feel a whole lot better or less tired than I did, but I am a lot less frightened.  A good deal of the reason for that is the people here.  Thank-you to all of you who assured me that it would be okay and that I would get used to the Avonex.  I have gotten used to it and have very few side effects at this point aside from fatigue a couple of days after I do the injection.  In fact, I was able to take the trip of a lifetime recently.  My husband, a friend of ours and myself all went on an Easter Mediteranean cruise.  One of the places that I had always wanted to go was Egypt.  The cruise was a compromise for my husband and me.  He didn't want to stay in Egypt and I wanted to go there.  We started in Genoa & Naples, Italy, Sicily and then on to Egypt where we even rode camels in the Sahara.  Standing next to the Great Pyramid...it was incredible!  The last ancient wonder of the world...We then went to Cyprus, Turkey and 2 ports in Greece before returning to Genoa.  By the way...Turkey is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been...not at all like "Midnight Express" would suggest...lol

On our way home we went to Paris and spent the night.  We went up to the top of the Eiffel Tower at night.  What a beautiful sight!  Looking out over Paris from the Eiffel Tower.  I still can't believe we went to all of those wonderful places.  I was so worried about traveling with the Avonex and it was totally unfounded (as I was assured by the experts here : ))  Again...thank-you to all of you who reassure all of the newcomers and the not so newcomers too.  They are a lot more worried about shampoo and toothpaste at the airport than they are about the 1 1/4" syringe I had in my carry-on...lol

How wonderful!  So happy you enjoyed your trip, it sounds fascinating!   Thanks so much for sharing and I hope it will be inspirational to those who are at the point you were a year ago.

One day, hubby and I hope to go on a trip or cruise or something like that.   Egyptian culture and history has always fascinated us too.  You got to ride camels, is it a comfortable ride?

Your trip sounds wonderful!  I've never been to any of those places....well, I was in Paris once...in the Paris airport...catching a connecting flight from London to Paris to Chicago eyes    but would LOVE to see the Eiffel Tower...I dunno about riding camels, though. They're big. Like horses. I'm scared of horses  tongue  

I'm so glad you had a good time.  I think cruising almost anywhere is a great way to travel.

Cruising is the best way to travel when you might just want to hang around relaxing for the day.  It gives us the option for my husband to be more active around the ship and yet I don't feel left out because he is always around somewhere close-by if I get a burst of energy and want to join him.  The camels were REALLY tall.  They are lying down wher you get on and off, but the standing up and lying down while you are on them is quite an experience...lol  A whole lot of lurching around.  I am lucky enough to have my husband as an independent agent so we get great rates usually.  Of course this time we paid full fare...lol  Naturally for the most expensive one we have ever been on!  I'm glad you enjoyed hearing about it.  I try not to bore people with the details because sometimes other people's vacations are not really that interesting to others.  We booked it almost as soon as I started on Avonex and I really think it got me through it knowing that I had to feel better to enjoy myself on this amazing trip.  Having a reward is definitely  aplus. I hope I did make others feel less worried about meds.  They are so awful at first and yet can really become totally tolerable.

I'm always up for hering about exotic locals that I have never and probably willnever see. Details please. I'd love to see pictures if u have any.

Hearing about your trip made me feel somewhat better knowing that I won't always feel bad. I'm with Sheila on the pics, would love to see them especially you on a camel :)

I don't know how to add pics or I'd be happy to.  We have some great ones and some really funny ones (i.e. me on a camel...lol)  Tell me how to go about it and I'd be happy to share them with you.

There's no way to add pics to this site directly, but you could put them on a personal homepage or blog and post them there with a link to it here :-)
