im super scared. it started a year ago with sharp pains in the occipital nerve area.

Welcome to the ms board! I'm so sorry to hear of u'r pain and weird sensations/dizziness, but try to relax and get thru this. Jan 2nd isn't too far away and u'll know more after that. While the dizziness could be a symptom of ms, it could also be a symptom of many other probs, as well as the pain in u'r eye and tingling sensation. Quite honestly i've never known of bloodshot eyes being part of ms. Maybe just a coincidence or part of another ongoing situation?? It's very easy to convince u'rself u have something...ms or other probs...so try to remain calm and get to u'r appt so the docs can do their job. Be prepared for possibly many tests and a probable long wait to find out. IF it's ms, u'll have to let the docs rule out every other possibility before ms can be dx'd as well as having certain other symptoms/clinical findings. In the meantime it's best to try to get u'r mind off it til u have more info. I don't suggest u doing any research on ms at this point. If u know u have a prob with OCD then researching ms or other things can only make it worse for u'rself. Try to hang on and let the docs take care of u...they will! Ask all the questions u want, but don't dwell on this if possible. I know that's a hard thing not to do, but it's the best thing u can do for u'rself at this point. I hope all this works out for u and please come back and let us know how u'r appt goes on the 2nd.

Hang in there! If it's something serious it'll show up in time. U know u'r body the best and u'r doing the right thing in persueing this, but just try not to dwell on this and let it consume u. I'm living proof...it WILL consume u!! Many people here feel they aren't being taken seriously when they complain about symptoms, but that's because many of the symptoms are unseen. If it's ms it WILL show up in time...but that may be a long time. Some folks go years without getting a dx. Don't give up, but don't live this. Try to note what's going on...symptom wise...and report that to the doc. Otherwise...keep living u'r life and let this be something u give due credit to...but only due credit on u'r time. Take good care and try to relax. :)

Yes, i'm sure it could be other things. Try googling 'ms mimics' or 'ms differential diagnosis'. U should get plenty of hits and lots of info!! PLEASE dont stay on this long tho. U may not be wrong on persueing this, but dwelling on it could be the worst thing u can do. Just take a look at the other possibilities and move on. U'r doc will do the work needed and he'll answer u'r questions...but just to let u know other possibilities do exist, u can take a look. Take care of u'rself and don't let this consume u...and research is the biggest way to let it consume u.

A MUCH more likely possibility is something called occipital neuralgia --a form of migraine --than "MS or a brain tumor".  I don't know how your parents got from an occipital headache (a type of migraine) to "sitting wrong", but there is not likely any connection been that and "bad posture". 

I did a quick google search on occiptal neuralgia and found NO mention of "MS" or "brain tumor", so I think you should stop obsessing about that, though.  If you do your own google search on occipital neuralgia, you'll come up with lots of sites, some highly technical, and some written for the layman, that explains it.

January 2 is NOT that far off.  Many folks wait MONTHS for a neuro appointment, and yet are still alive to talk about it.  So will you be.

Migraines, Headaches in general, can cause dizziness. There are a MYRIAD of reasons why you might experience tingles, including migraines, occipital neuralgia (read OTHER sites..that was just a start. Like most teachers, I am NOT going to do your homework for you!), anxiety, other meds (are you taking anything for your OCD?).

i also performed the romberg's test on myself. i found that it was more difficult to walk with my eyes closed and next to impossible to keep my balance with one foot up and eyes closed. i dk if thats normal or not....
