Hi Confused,
Good luck tonight! I'm sure you'll do just fine. It's a scary thing to do the first time, but the nurse will help you so you are sure of yourself. Don't be afraid to ask for further help if you aren't totally sure of how, where etc. to do the injection the next time. As for telling your family...I had a really hard time telling mine, and I still haven't and won't tell my grandmother. I decided that she was of an age that it would seems way too overwhelming because she wouldn't understand that there were many drugs to prevent progression. I did tell most of the rest of the family, but I didn't just blurt it out to them all together. I started with my husband and son and then my father, who I knew were the most likely to just be supportive and I moved from there. It is a very personal thing and you don't have to feel like it is something that everyone needs to know immediately, some not at all. I waited to tell many until I had been on the Avonex for a while. I think that was because now that I am on the medication I feel like I am "doing something" about the illness. I maybe feel more in control of the situation so it isn't as overwhelming to talk about it. My prayers are with you for all of it. Everyone here will help you through all you have to go through!
