Whites of eyes turning yellow and have red spots

i noticed this afternoon putting make up on that the whites of my eyes are turning yellow and have like blood spots also.  I called my reg dr and have an appt in the morning.  I called and talked to the nurse at my neuro and she said that i should be ok till the dr appt tomorrow.  my last liver function test in dec was normal, so im hoping its something else, since i dont want to stop taking the copaxone and switch to another med.  well i'll keep ya posted.

Wow...i'm glad u'r seeing a doc tomorrow. Please do come let us know what they say. I want to say i've seen someplace where bloodshot eyes can be a symptom of ON, but i can't find that now and am not certain of that either. I hope it's nothing too bad and that the Copaxone isn't the culprit either. Best wishes and all my prayers on this.

Sorry about the problem your having. Think you'll be fine till the morning. I don't think you'll have to quit copaxone It's not a
intferon ( I know thats spelld wrong) LOL I've been on it for 3 yrs no liver test. Hoped that helped

I hope your doctor can help with that. I didn't think copaxone affected the liver, though -- only the interferons? Do come back and tell us what you've found out!

ok the dr says possible liver function problem or hepatitus. We wont know until the blood work comes back. He talked more about the hepatitus and doesnt really feel its the copaxone causing the liver issue. he said he should have the results in the morning and will call me as soon as he gets them.

i'll keep ya posted when i know more.

Hepatitis is NOT a good thing! I hope he gets back quickly to you, and you start on proper treatment!

thanks guys for all the good thoughts, but still no news on the blood work. I even called the dr's office and they cked and were not in yet. I will be calling by 10am if they havent called me by then. The eyes are still yellow and actually to me seem to be covering more than what it was yesterday.

I did do a little research on hep A and found out that most people recover even without treatment. But to me, with a compromised immune system it will probably take longer. I just wish the results would come back so i can start treatment.

To me its like with MS, why wait, do something NOW! lol but im trying not to worry too much cuz then the stress just makes me feel worse

I'll let you know as soon as the dr calls me.

Hi all

My first time ever on any forum/chat room/blog etc.

My Mother-in-Law has M.S. and is experiencing lots of red spots before her eyes. She has recently had some work done on her eyes but her G.P seems to think that the red spots are connected with the M.S.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. We live just outside London in England and I don't think M.S. is as widely understood here as in the U.S. Many thanks.

Hi there. You are posting to quite an old thread. If your mother in law is seeing red spots then it could well be an optic neuritis flare (MS attacking optic nerve). If she has red spots on her eyeballs, then it is something else. She needs to see her neurologist or a neurological-ophthalmologist.
