Hi just a quick question

Hey I'm new posting to ask whether any of you have heard of the use of the anti depressant, amitriptyline to treat numbness pain caused by ms, a link to a site with more info would be of a great help to me, Thanks

Welcome to the board! Glad to see u've found us and i hope u'll feel free to ask any questions u'd like. As Kas said, there are lots of helpful and knowledgeable people here and they're all willing to help where they can.

I was given this med at one of my first doc visits, but that was before the numbness began with me. I was seeing the doc for fatigue and he gave me this. He was under the impression i was just depressed and needed some 'pick me up', but it only made me really sleepy and i didn't continue it beyond a few days after consulting with him. I've heard of it for other uses, tho at this time i can't recall what those other uses were. Also as Kas said, others will be along soon to let u know of their experience and knowledge of this med.

To add, we have live chats on Monday's at 6:00pm (cst) and i hope u'll have a chance to join in with us. It's a great time to get to know everyone a little better and sort of 'pick their minds'. :) Hope to see u there and again, welcome to the board!

I took this Amytrip-stuff when i was first diagnosed for nerve pain. My feet felt like I was walking on hot coals; my right leg felt like it had a steel rod down the center of it that was on fire. i got lost on my own road on the way home from work; I also could not figure out how to get out of my own bedroom. It was very real at the time and frightening. I gave all of the pills to my doctor and told him I would never take this stuff again. I searched the internet because i didn't want to take pain pills-they affect your mind to much. I found LDN (low dose naltrexone) and have been taking that since August of 2001. i have no pain anymore and I am not in a drug induced state. You could have any of the midications I take but i will not give that one up-to me it is wonderful.
