I did it!

I never would have believed it possible, but I am now giving my own injections. Granted, it's only possible with the auto injector...but still! I never thought I'd be able to do it.

Four weeks ago, when I started my treatment, I was cripplingly afraid of needles. I cried every night when I had to get my shot, which my husband patiently did for me. I got less afraid as the days went on, and I finally decided it was time for some independence. I have now done two injections all on my own. I can hardly believe it. The auto injector is great, I never have to see the needle!

A big thanks to MSBlessed! You really convinced me to give it a try! The folks at Shared Solutions are awesome. They even called me a few days after I got my auto injector to see how I was doing. Nice!!

Buckeye, you are too sweet! Thanks! I almost forgot we started on the same day. How are your injections going? How are you feeling? Are you doing yours manually or with an auto injector? We should totally celebrate our 1 month anniversary with cake. Or ice cream. Or both!!

    Good job!!! You sound so proud of yourself, and you should be!  That's so terrific you were able to overcome your fear and do it yourself.  That autoinjector is such a nice little item, and Shared Solutions have always been a big help to us too.  Ours broke once and they shipped us a new one overnight no charge!  Best of luck and you'll be a pro in no time

I'm so happy for u. I've been giving my on shots since the Thursday before Christmas. Like u I was so scared of the needle. I didn't have anyone else to give the shot so I had to go into the drs office every week to get the (avonex) shots. I have to say the sight of the needle still scares me,but giving my self the shot gives me such a sense of accomplisment and confidece that it more than makes up for the fright. So, keep on going. Pretty soon u'll feel like a pro.

As I sit here with tears in my eyes reading your first post thanking me, reminds me why I joined this forum. If I was able to encourage and bless just one person, I decided it would somehow make this disease worth it. Injection site reactions and all. I've had one of the most emotional and challenging weeks I've had in a while (don't even ask) but reading your post really helped. I haven't even had the emotional strength to log on to my home computer, and I'm typically one serveral times a week. You have no idea how that simple thank you encouraged me to keep going and keep posting. Please share what I've shared with you with someone else. That's what it's all about. Thank you so very much for touching my life the way you have.

I have both at work and not sure what the heck is insatlled on this laptop at home. It's my daughter Brianna's!! LOL!! (x-mas gift from Grandma) Anyway, my computers hard drive crashed a while ago, but I will get it going this weekend. I'll also check and see if MSN or AIM is installed on here. Once I have that going I'll post and let you know. I also look forward to chatting with you. I'm SO proud of you doing your own injections. It makes me smile just to think about it.
