Hi there. My neuro has given me some samples of provigil and a prescription. It is suposed to be helpful for MS fatigue. Does anyone have any experience with this drug that they can share?

I have been taking Provigil for about three years.  I take 1 & 1/2 pills when I wake up, same  dose at noon, then 1/2 at 2:30p.m.

 

It helps me.. a lot....with no side effects....

My wife works for a large hospital here in Detroit area with great benefits.

My co-pay for a months script is $20.00---they then give a reciept if not a St. John's emplotee....

$780.00....ouch..... Great luck.  John

I would not be able to function without it. Its really very helpful. I take 400mg daily.
200mg in the AM and 200mg around 3:00 pm.

I really like it. I was nervous about taking it at first but really its wonderful. Its life altering. Start out slow and see how you like it.
Just be sure to take it at the times you were told for obvious reasons.


I pay 100 for three month supply. I would pay twice as much.

Thanks all. I started taking it this morning. 200 mgs. I think it's too early to tell how it will do. The medicine guide says it can take several weeks to feel an effect. I do have a question about taking it in the afternoon. Do you find you can still sleep ok at night taking it so late in the day?

Hey Cece!

Jumping in here late, but wanted to tell u that many here...as u've seen already...have had great success with Provigil. It is pricey unless u have a good prescription plan, so some have gone with Ritalin as an alternative. Seems also to be very good. I"m not sure if taking it late would keep u up, but i'd definitely check with the doc before doing so. I tried this med once and it was fantastic for about two weeks and then seemed not to help at all. My doc then tried Welbutrin which was horrible for me...made me terribly depressed. Finally we tried Cymbalta. It's an anti depressant, but works wonderfully for me for fatigue and also seems to help with my other symptoms...balance probs, dizziness and such. I hope u find that this is a great fit for u'r needs! Fatigue is a really terrible symptom! Hang in that and let us know how u are!

Hi Cece,

 

    Provigil is one of the more popular prescribed meds for MS fatigue right now, and for most people it works very well.  I wish you the best success with it, please let us know!  It can keep you up if taken too late in the day.  Too late really means giving yourself enough time for it to wear off before bedtime.  If it's effective for you, you should quickly learn when is too late for you.  Good luck!

HI All, I am still using the samples my doc gave me. The Provigil seems to help a little bit and only for a short time. I know that if and when I fill the prescription it will be a $50.00 copay. I have to pick and choose which meds are best based on my income and how much they really help me. I don't think I'll continue this one. Anyone take anything else that helps for fatigue?

    If price is a concern, and Provigil is quite expensive, you could ask about Ritalin instead.  It's about a quarter of the price and works well also.

Sounds like you need 400 a day. Mine wears out too. Try taking 200 in the AM and then a half of one in the PM. The pm one should not be taken after 3:00pm. Just kind of see what you need.
I sleep like a, well people say "a baby" but come on, babies do not sleep all through the night, So I will say I sleep like a cat on a comfy couch. I start winding down right about now.
