Gday Cocoa,
I'm from Redcliffe so going to redcliffe hospital to see a doctor there (not sure if I am allowed to post names). Have never been to neuro before and actually have an immense dislike of drs anyway. I am wondering if I perhaps know who your neuro might be . Have heard many terrible stories about a neuro with a shocking bedside manner whose ex wife used to be a high profile politician by the name of SallyAnne ..... ? Hmmm. Could it be the same? 2 of my sisters are RNs who have worked with this particular neuro. said he is ARROGANT+++. (might not be this person though) Yes Beattie has no fans here. Our poor next door neighbour sliced his hand last week and needed surgery to repair nerves and tendons. He waited 4 days to have his op. 4 days!!!!!! I hope I don't have MS or anything. I think the stress of having to deal with this decaying medical system would do my head in.

18 months for an MRI is ridiculous. Do you know our government has modelled its present system on the Canadian system? Who can we call to complain to? What with rogue "terrorist" drs and foreign drs hired whilst struck off lists in other countries, we are in for a rough ride. Stay well. None of us want to wind up in a hospital ANYWHERE. Karen we need to compare notes about reflux. I have this problem too. Do you know where your lesions are? If they are in your medulla oblongata this might account for your GERD. Keep me posted. And keep cool. I hear it is BOILING in your part of the world. Here we are having our coldest winter ever.

Hey, there, cocoa, don't do anything rash, ha ha.  I don't want you going to jail or anything like that.  I am doing a little better today.  We had a holiday yesterday for New Brunswick days so all businesses and offices were closed.  I didn't hear from the doctor's office or anything but I may hear something in the next few days.  I leave for Winnipeg on the 17th of August and get back 15th of September.  I have a cardiac ultrasound booked for October 1st so at least when I get back there is something to get started with.

I can't wait to see my girls and grandchildren, all 5 of them.  Boy it is going to be busy but since we will have our trailer, I will get lots of rest also, I promise. 

Let me know how it goes and if you are not in jail, ha ha, what he says to you.  I have the peripheral vision thing in my left eye also, MS related.  So I don't know why your neuro isn't saying you have MS.  Oh, well, I think he will it is just a matter of time, as he sent you that survey etc.

Hopefully you got some sleep before you go to see him.  It is 10 in the morning here now and I am thinking about you and hoping all is going well for you.  Take care and let me know.

I am not sure where my lesions are anymore, I haven't had an MRI since 1999.  My neuro keeps saying I don't need one everytime I ask her about it.  She isn't exactly forthcoming with the information about my disease.  She takes notes on what I am saying and then does her standard tests and then sends me for whatever tests she feels like sending me for and that is it.  She really doesn't explain a whole lot to me.

I am not even sure about this GERD, all I am aware of is since getting this chest pain, the doctor has mentioned this could be esophageal spasm and that I may have to have the scope put down to check my esophagus for damage etc.  I do get like a burning from time to time that goes into my back but not often.

We had a bit of a hotspell here for about a week and then now it is cool only 72 degrees in the daytime so not bad and cool at night for sleeping.  What do you call cold for winter there?  I don't know much about the country at all.

Also, our medical system isn't that bad, it seems to be the area that I live in.  We are having trouble getting doctors to come and stay in our area, they want to go and live in the bigger cities and towns.  We are a small community here.  And a smaller, poorer province than the rest of Canada.  The hospitals and nurses and even most of the doctors try their best to serve the patients but they can only do so much really.  We do have one of the best medical systems in the world I believe but our doctors, as I said are concentrated to the bigger centres and unfortunately I don't live in the big centre.

Hey Annie, no you are safe!!! It isn't the same Neuro and not the one who was married to Sally Anne the Mayor. I am on the Gold Coast, best not to name names, but it certainly isn't the same Neuro. Half our problems is FRUSTRATION with the Medical System here. They have just fired another Doctor from the Gold Coast Hospital, thank goodness I only go to the Neuro there, everything else that is falling to bits is being looked after by the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. I have a lot of faith in them, they do a great job. I have been in there as an in patient twice, once for 3 weeks. The nursing staff are great and the visiting Specialists are tops.

I have to keep this short as I am getting ready for the "Appointment" They rang yesterday and want me to come in earlier, don't know why, maybe someone cancelled.....or maybe he knows I am on the war path. I just downloaded some good information on MS from the Johns Hopkins neurology and neurosurgery centre. Very interesting. Also the National Multiple Sclerosis Society which has a really good interactive symptoms page.

Karen I won't kill him I promise....I'll just rough him up a little! Glad you are feeling better. Oh no......here comes another hot flush......!!!!!!! I hate these so much!

When I get my latest MRI I will let you guys know what the report says maybe later on today. I need to get them off him for my operation on Friday. Endoscopy of my oesophagus and stomach uuughh! I have had it before and don't remember much.

You'll laugh about our winter temperatures here, we really don't get cold at all. Recently though we have had lows of 3 degrees Celsius. Our tops can reach in the middle 20's for a winter day. July was our coldest month on record (very cold mornings and nights but the days were pleasant). However, for we Queenslanders this is considered FREEZING!!!! Whenever we put on a long sleeved shirt and closed in shoes we complain. My husband actually doesn't even own a jumper!~! This is the truth! However, the scientist is me is quite interested in the fact that the northern hemisphere is having one of its hottest summers ever and we are having an equally record-breaking winter. What is happening to the world? Be interesting to see what kind of summer we will get soon. I can cope with 30+degrees but not humidity or temps in the 40's like we sometimes get. YUK.
Hope your chest pain isn't bothering you too much. It really does warrant investigation. I'm still wondering if it could be reflux. When I am really bad I get agony from it. Crushing, unbelievable chest pain. Lasts for ages. I know it is heart burn because I have damage that they have seen via an endoscopy. It can ruin the quality of life when it flares. Reflux even made me wake up choking in my sleep. Terrified me and my husband. Changed the sound of my voice because of damage to my vocal chords.
Anyway, thats me griping again. Hope your day is great.

Hi guys, Annie, that is what I thought about the weather.  I really didn't think it got that cold there.  We can get down to minus 30 celcius in the winter here but that doesn't last too long.  But it seems that weather is changing all over the world and it does get one thinking and wondering why.

And cocoa, go easy on the neuro, you may need him to look after you. ha ha.  Yes let us know the results as soon as you know. 

I am not too bad today, had a bad night though, the heating pad and extra meds and not sleeping until almost 4 in the morning.  Annie, I think that I may need that upper GI test as well that cocoa is having done.  Ugh, I agree.  Yuck.   But it will wait until I get back from out west.  That comes first.

I also notice at times my voice gets really husky and I wonder if there is damage to my vocal chords from time to time.  Again, it will wait til I get back.

Hey Ladies!

Prob best to either connect personally or maybe do an Off Topic thread. Sorry, since this seems more personal it may be better to try that. Many people surf thru these threads and look for anything related to ms, but when they get long like this and contain more personal info, then it's cumbersome for those other members looking for info. Thanks friends!!
