As anyone quit drinking alchohol because of MS? I am slowing down big time, the next morning's are like 10 times as worse. Also the drug Provigil I take has warnings online saying they Prudent about drinking and taking this medication. Also I was wondering if anyone has changed there Diet due to this disease? I don't know how big of a factor it is, my doc said its not that big of a deal and I have read online that its a big deal....just curious.
You can read LOTS of stuff on the Internet. Doesn't make it true, or right, or credible.
But -- yes, alcohol seems to affect me more than it did pre-MS. But then, I'm a lot older, too, so maybe that's a factor. And as you note, many of the meds we take have cautions about taking them and alcohol. And as someone else noted, if MS causes you dizziness or vertigo, that can be exacerbated with too much alcohol.
Like everything -- you have to find out what YOUR limits are, and then do what you must to stay within those limits...at least most of the time. My doctor, like yours, says it's not a big deal...but of course would not suggest I get drunk, or drink to excess, or drive while drinking, or any of those standard precautions.
I usually find 1-2 vodka tonics with a meal is more than enough. Or a beer or two.
