Bone marrow report....not normal!

Hi All, I rec'd a copy of my bone marrow report (which I requested), I don't think the nurse had the right report when she told me mine was normal and all my counts were within range!   This is what it says: decreased siderblastic iron suggests anemia of chronic disease focal fibrosis (a cause for this is not found) leuk openia with mild neutr openia  (this patient should be evaluated for splenomegaly as a cause for leuk openia) WBC count 2.8     Do any of you know anything about these results?  I have looked all over the internet and haven't found a thing.  I emailed my GI, rheumatologist and neurology docs this report. Thanks for any input.

Hi Michelle,   Wow, I am so sorry that the docs left you searching for answers on this one. I am really not familiar with these results, nor do I have any medical training or knowledge, but I found a couple links that might give you a little information. A lot of these things mention an autoimmune disease, and often specifically lupus as a possible cause. Maybe this is why the nurse told you these results were “normal” for you? I honestly hesitate to even post this info because I don’t want to give you any wrong information or lead you in the wrong direction. However, that being said, here’s some of what I found below. I wasn’t able to find anything clearly defining focal fibrosis in bone marrow, though. I hope your docs get back to you really soon and can give you some better information about your results. How are you feeling? Sunnycitrus, Thanks for "browsing" around the internet for me!  It was good to read that about the anemia of chronic disease.  I think all of this is related to the disease they have yet to name for me.   Thanks  again.  Take care!

Well, I was gonna provide you with similar links...so you now have a ton of reading to do. Seems like it's all connected to whatever is ailing you...now if the doctor can just sit down with it all and connect the dots! Take care.

Wow...what a confusing thing to have to try to make heads or tails over!! Sunny did a great job of locating information for u...and helped me understand this much more. Unfortunately u may only get real answers from the doc as to how this pertains to u. I"m so sorry...all u need now is more questions. I agree, this is prob going to lead back to the unknown autoimmune disease that they are still trying to determine for u. I did do a bit of searching as well and can only add the following links pertaining to Sideroblastic Anemias. It all, of course, links back to the same possible causes, but maybe just more info will aid in understanding. Please do let us know how u'r doing friend. Geesh..i hope the docs get back to u soon!!
