mysterious post-exercise sensation

Just wondering if anyone can relate to this concern of mine or if this has a name/is related to MS. I walk twice a week for about an hour for fitness. When I come home and sit down to rest my muscles feel like they are trembling/vibrating/pulsating (can't find the right descriptive here!) for upward of 30 minutes after my exercise. I have looked at my legs and there is no visible twitching and I have made my husband place his hands on my legs. He can't detect any vibrations at all. So I believe this is an internal "thing". The sensation eventually settles down. This has only occurred in the past year. In my youth I have played high level sport and as an adult I have always exercised but can't remember this sensation having annoyed me until this last year. Any feedback would be appreciated. My long awaited doctors appointment is looming (2 weeks) and not sure if this should be classified as a symptom. I'll be boring him enough with a long enough list as it is!

I'm glad to hear u'r appt is coming up so soon. Yes, do bring this up to u'r doc! I have this very often as well, but not just because i've done any exercising or had any activity at all really. Many times i can get out of bed with it happening and it'll happen all day long. Like u, no visible signs of the vibrations, but u can definitely feel it on the inside! Also tho, my children and husband have all been able to feel the 'motor' running in my legs at times (not always..this is usually one of those hidden symptoms) and tho it's 'cool' to the girls, it's not so cool to me just because i know it's not right. No, no pain at all...just a bit annoying until u get used to it. Mine will vib...lull...vib...lull all day...or will non stop vib for a period of time and then just stop. Weird! Take good care and be sure u let the doc know of this. It is just one more piece to the puzzle.

I wanted to respond to your post because i always experience this feeling. I say it feels like an electrical current running thru my legs. I drives me crazy sometimes. I would tell the doc, but would bet it is some type of nerve pain. Maybe all the mixed signals we get or something like that. Who knows with this crazy disease, right?

your support is truly appreciated. I neglected to mention that with heavy exercise my muscles visibly tremble during and after activity. I stopped going to the gym over 12 months ago, but after particularly intense sessions, I would be embarrassed about what my muscles were doing. They would tremble all by themselves. At the time I fully believed that it was due to my lack of fitness, however in hindsight, I was not that unfit and it may have been the beginning of this nasty business. In fact, it was at the gym that i first noticed "something' was wrong. On the treadmill, it always felt that my right leg was heavy and tired. Now i get this feeling all the time and also in my arm. I still try to walk for exercise though. Its a shame because i'm actually a HPE teacher - albeit Australias most unfit one!!! My problems are slowing me down though. Somedays I feel that I could collapse after walking up our stairs. My throat still has that choking feeling that is my biggest issue. I wonder what the end result of all this will be. Do I have MS? Is this just me ageing badly? Am I simply a basket case hyperchondriac? Who knows? I'm a little pessimistic about it all today. All our stories are so similar and hardly anyone gets any answers. I've nearly convinced myself that the doctors visit will just be a waste of time, finances and emotional energy. It's a hard life lesson knowing that the body can fails us, when once it was so healthy and functioned perfectly. Yet, life must go on!! Could be worse.....!!

I know how nerve-wracking these doctors appointments can be, and I have also questioned my sanity at times during this process. It can be so frustrating and scary to have the hope for an answer hang on one long-anticipated visit. However, it is definitely worth going. Even if you don’t get a diagnosis at your appointment, the neuro might be able to see some of the issues going on (i.e. the tremors or the weakness on your right side) and they will be noted in your medical record. This could then shape the direction of future testing, help eliminate certain diagnoses, and ultimately lead to some answers.

 

By the way, I also get the visible muscles tremors and the heavy feeling. I think mine are part of my fatigue.
