Many years ago when I first got online. I pal'd up with a gal from Miss. She and I both had very assertive type personaities and loved to laugh online and on the phone. She was there for me the day my dad died.
One day I recieved (way before I knew it would enter my life) an email about her nephew that had MS. He had it very very bad. They were worrying if he'd live. He was in a major hospital but they couldn't figure it out. Transverse meylitis (sp) was his first dx. My friend and the mom sat round the clock with him.
His legs were so spastic that the doctor's commented they'd never seen it happen so fast and so severe. Finally, a new doctor took over and he was dx'd with MS.
This is when my friend sent out online petitions to get him on Montel Williams. I of course signed. She also did this in her neighborhood and many more places. He got to go on the show, but due to my dad's funeral and other things I failed to see the actual taping.
He was told that he'd never walk again. He was 19yrs old.
When I developed MS, i remembered my galpal and sent her a quick email. She responded immediately with concern and shock. She also gave me the number of the boy (matthew) Father and mother. I decided to call them. I spoke to the dad who was very nice. He explained how horrible it had been for up to a year and a half. It took him close to that long to even be released. After that his pain was so intense, he'd go to the bedroom with the reason being "it hurts when you touch my skin".
His father said that during the entire thing Matthew held his faith. Even when family began to seriously doubt. I felt kind of bad because mine was already shaken and I was just beginning the attacks. He told me not to feel bad. I explained, but I have such dark thoughts. He said, as im sure Matthew had. I know this is hard but try to look around you and see what God is trying to teach you. (yes that was hard).
He then asked, she (gal pal) did tell you how he is now right? I said no. He said, well after the doctor's said he'd never walk again, about 5 months later he did! He has had no more attacks for the past year and recently married and had a lil baby boy.
Even the doctors say it's a miracle (due to the severity of what they were seeing inpatient).
I was dumbfounded but so happy for him.
Today is about 3 yrs later and he still is in remission and loving being a husband and a father.
I just remembered this today, and thought Id share.
The thing they tell us about "no two ms persons are the same" can work in your favor!
thanks
