Hello all has anybody expeirenced elevated liver enzymes form their ms therapy? I am aware that avonex can do this but i seem to to be elevated every other time..I was taken off cresstor but it is still "slightly" elevated..Has anybody else had this problem? and if so what did you do for it??barb sad

Well we had another member who was on avonex and she had this prob fairly often. She was checked regularly, as i'm sure u'r being checked too. I"m not sure of anything else that does this. Could the steroids be contributing to this?? It'd be a great idea to bring all u'r meds up to the doc...unless this has already been done...to let him take a good look at the whole pic and see if the culprit is there. Best wishes on this friend and let us know how it goes. I'd love to know what's causing this!

Thanks Rhonda, so far my pcp isnt blaming the avonex my neuro doesnt know yet.She is blaming crestor i stopped it for a month but it was still elavavted so i dont know...I talked to my pharmicist they seemed to blame the avonex. It has been flucuating off an on for a few yrs. now. They said the steroids wouldnt do it or the myscoline but that is what i blame. To much of a mixture....I have no signs of liver disease...When i was working i worked in a health care facility and we got hepatitis shots. I blame that..Almost like somebody who HAD tb gets tested the test positive but they dont have it. Always somethin to keep ya on your toes...Thanks again most appreciated..barb

O wow! A lot in the mix there, huh? U have a good point...maybe false negatives in the past?? I'd be all over that to be certain as i'm sure u are. When i had my hysterectomy i had to have some blood and later tested positive for HTLV...which is a cousin to HIV...and i totally lost it!!! I tested positive for five tests..then finally on a more discerning test i tested negative. Whew!! For awhile tho i was freaking out! Don't let this one go...just to be sure and give urself and u'r family some security...keep getting tested. As for the other meds, i'd keep at it too. Take one away at a time to see what happens. I don't know enuf about any of those meds to say what it could be except for the history with the other member who used avonex. With that in mind, i'd lean towards it as the culprit. Keep at it friend. U'r far too important to let anything go and not be as well as u can be. Let us know how u are and how this progresses.
