Hey everyone,
I went to UCLA to see my wonderful doctor. The appointment went very well. She did all the usual tests and asked all the usual questions. She was very pleased to see that I had little to no progression over a year. I feel great and she could see that. She is frustrated that I never lost my vertigo or mild balance problems. She did write a script for vestibular training from a physiotherapist. I have my doubts (and so does she) that it will imporve things. She was thinking that I could learn some excercises to do at home to maintain the balance I have. My balance is probably average for a healthy 45 year old woman, but it is not my balance. I used to ride my horse bare-back and I could ride a unicycle. I had really excellent balance and now I just would like to maintain. She and I both think that is a reasonable goal there.
My dear, wonderful, perfect husdand always goes with me on these trips. He enjoys "tattling" on me if I have been naughty and not been taking care of me. We drive an hour and a half for these appointments, so we always make a day of it. He completely spoils me. We went to lunch in an old Beverly Hills kosher deli. It was so fun and yummy. Afterwards, we walked up rodeo and beverly drive checking out all the swanky shops and doing some serious people watching. You will see lots of pseudo super models and pink dogs and limos with body guards. I spend the whole time with this huge grin on my face because it cracks me up.
I won't bore you with what I bought lol!!! We ended the day going up to the Griffith observatory way up on the hollywood hills. It is right by the hollywood sign if you don't know. It is a great view ( of the city and the smog lol ). The museum and grounds have all been rebuilt in a huge effort that took over two years. I had a great day. My husband always tries to put the emphasis on the fun part and not on the HUGE reminder that I have a chronic illness.
I had a great day and just wanted to share.
