Anyone have constipation/anal sphincter spasm?

Hey everyone,
Sorry to all who are experiencing this stuff. Apparently we are not alone. I'm a 34 y/o male in Canada and have been suffering since about 23. Started with sleep issues/nervousness, tummy woes and constipation. Was put on an ssri. Constipation worsened with loss of rectal function. Turned into chronic constipation (one movement a week) with thin stool and blood. Hemorrhoids were removed that caused blood via straining. Blah blah blah ended up at Mayo Clinic and had anarectal manometry and other tests.
Diagnosed with pelvic floor disorder, evacuation disorder, low rectal pressure and possible nerve issues. Went through physiotherapy where I was taught relaxing techniques, rectal balloon stretching and biofeedback. Super. Mild improvement. I experienced increasing rectal spasms, acute irritation, muscle tension and related tummy issues due to constipation that I'm sure you are all familiar with.
I found a pelvic floor physiotherapist who showed me stretches, recommended dietary changes and performed internal manipulation. I was given a rectal wand so I can do this at home.
Went to John's Hopkins and had Botox injections about five months ago. They also found a compressed vertebra which I'm looking into. The Botox worked to reduce the rectal spasms, but it didn't solve much else and lasted 3 months to the day. I was prescribed Baclofen, lyrica and other meds that haven't helps much.
Current things: saddle area numbness; rectal stiffness/disconnect; constipation; bloating; constant rectal awareness; right leg nerve inflammation to bottom of foot; right foot cramp; weakness and pain in pelvic region; jaw clench; tongue issues; weak/numb urination (changes frequently); nervous belly; short breath/cough; one-piece bowel movement almost daily (yay, but no relief and symptoms increase afterwards); can't sleep; no appetite; nausea; muscle pain in butt, pelvis, back, groin etc; decreased imagination; general discomfort.
For 3 years my daily routine has included biofeedback, stretching, walking (cant always leave the house though), rectal balloons, and rectal wand when spasms/tension are too much. I nibble food and have one meal at dinner. I'm currently seeking a neurologist in hopes that he can help.
I've seen many doctors, most of whom are useless. They recommend everything from drinking water to have a colostomy bag inserted. Ive been prescribed many meds that are ineffective. I am responsible for my body and will not stop seeking answers until I am satisfied.

The first thing to look at is diet. Some food contribute to this problem more than others. For sure dairy should be avoided because it is known to contribute to constipation. When I was on my detox program constipation was a problem. Once I got my digestive system healthy it went away. There are many natural things you can do to heal your digestive system such as probiotics. These things take time to work but it is important to get and understanding because eating the wrong foods can cause the problem. I did a juicing program which seem to help. Try eating raw fruits and vegetables for a month and see if it makes a difference.

Eddrin, I understand the fruit and veggie thing. The last thing you want is increased gas that cannot be released...same as me. I'm currently getting my spine investigated as it could be causing things. I have a bulging disc at L1-L2 and a lipoma (Tumour bump) just above at T11-T12. Have you had any back problems or anywhere else in the spinal cord? Perhaps the pogoball incident altered something.

I hear you. It's very difficult because nobody can find anything or help. I've been intensely researching the anatomy and how the pelvic and digestive system operate. Nerves are complicated. I had a Botox treatment where they inject it internally inside the rectum. For me, they saw that sphincter muscles are locked tight even when unconscious. It relaxed some of the area for exactly 3 months (to the day). My problems, however, are more widespread so it wasn't a cure, just partial comfort. Maybe you can try it.
I've been to so many specialists too. Some are good, most are not. Second opinions always bring different opinions. I believe for us, muscle and digestive areas are not the problem...the problem lies in what controls those muscles and nerves. You say your problem is neurological and I believe that. Check your glands too (onuf's nucleus) as they signal some nerves down there. A lot of the muscles in the abdomen are controlled by nerve roots in the spine in the thoracic region.
Biofeedback has helped, but only a little. I was warned that it may not be successful as something more severe was controlling the areas and making them tighten. Try it though, it doesn't hurt and you do it at home. What else have you tried?

I have spinal cord injury c6 c7. It's now 27 years and having problems with BM. Doctors have given me all sorts of meds to take. Some worked and most did not. Have bowel testing at the U of M in Ann Arbor Mi. Test findings show weak and a fallen pelvic floor I guess. Well Dr's want me to get colostomy. I'm not ready yet for that. I want to try anal sphincter botox shots. Colostomy is the very last thing I will have to do if I don't have any relief from shots. Does anyone have this similar problem. Please reply.
