Hey y'all:

I don't even know if this is the appropriate forum, but it's the one I always use 'cuz of my MS.

Since early summer, I've had a series of unexplained black-and-blue marks that show up about an inch or so above my right elbow (inner), about 1/4" to 1/3" in diameter. Then it happended in the same location on my left inner arm!!! They fade after a week or so; in one case a mark enlarged and developed a pale center.

NOW, I have a 1/2" inch mark on my left wrist about 1" away from my watch band (closer to the palm). There also are a couple of smaller, lighter marks above it. Again, no bumps are such caused these bruises. They are not itchy, painful, or swollen. Is it an MS thing, and is it something I should see a specialist for? My PCP has not been too responsive--he brushed it off actually.

Any advice, tips, knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well i've not heard of bruising as a symptom of ms. I get some weird bruising as well, but not like u describe. Mine are just small bruises that appear for no reason. My husband usually finds them and i have no explaination for them. I suspect they are some sort of accident that i've either forgotten or not felt. U'rs sound a bit more problematic. I'd prob see another doc...tho i'm not sure what type. There does seem to be some reason for concern with the way u describe these marks. Maybe call u'r local hosp or physician network to get a suggestion as to what doc 'type' u would need to see. Best wishes friend and please let us know how u'r doing.

Get your blood work done and make sure you are not anemic. Don't know if you are on any meds, but I was often anemic on one of the interferons- can cause bruising. Do you have numbness or parasthesia in those areas so you might be hurting yourself and not knowing it? I have also inadvertently created bruises before by pressing and rubbing on spots where I get the annoying burning/tingling sensations. Just some thoughts and I hope you figure something out. Willow

Thanks each of you for the feedback. I plan to call various specialists (hematology, vascular, what ever) and ask if this may be something they should look at. Also, last night I woke up and discovered my nose had been bleeding. I washed my face and then (gross-out alert!) honked as hard as I could into the sink, resulting in at least two TBPS. of bloody mucus. That was at around 4:30 AM and after half a box of tissues and more of the same until noon today, it finally stopped. This is an unusual occurence for me, and I wonder if there is a correlation???

Any thoughts?
