Confusing Symptoms

Hi, I'm new to the forum and I've been kicking MS's butt for 11 years +. I've been dealing with spasticity in my left leg for about five years now. However, in the last year and a half, the spasticity seems to extend all the way up to my lower left jaw/face. The worst part of this symptom is that it creates a terrible pain in my chest that feels like heartburn x3. My neurologist has never heard of this problem before and she prescribed 300mg of Lyrica and about 80mg of Elavil after I told her I took these two medicines out of desperation. It seemed to work but now it has returned. Does anyone have experience with this type of symptom?

Yes I do take Baclofen, but it doesn't do anythong for the pain in my chest. I've also had most of the heart tests. I forgot to say that when I'm sitting in a way that puts any pressure on the under side of my left thigh, I get the pains through my chest; and then sometimes I don't. It's very frustrating and sometimes I may only get 2 or 3 hours of sleep.

In my experience spasticity and pain definitely went together. I had spasticity in left leg and extending up spine reaching to shoulders. I was allergic to baclofen at low dose so drs suggested pump as this way I get 1/300 of dose delivered where it is needed. Since I got baclofen in pump all spasticity up the spine is gone and leg is much improved. If I increase quantity of baclofen I get more flexibility in leg but I also get more unstable so I keep some spasticity. Pain followed the spasticity up the leg and back (10/10 spasms & then skin pain beyond 10/10) and that also has gone with the pump. However, I have always had a lot of pain, dull aches in buttocks, thighs, shoulders 7/10 (which gradually improve with Reiki but did not respond to baclofen) & also flares of intense nerve pain (which also decreased dramatically after pump). I stopped breathing automatically for a period (this too improved with reiki) but have only had chest pain with an anaphalatic shock reaction to a drug. Dont know if any of this is helpful. I have issues with chest pain from spasticity also, The way my DR expalined it it is because the spacsticity is occuring in my chest wall. Sometimes it hurts so much it feels like I am having a heart attack. It's kind of a trial and error game until you find the right medication to ease it. I just hope you find the right one soon so that you won't have to suffer with it anymore :)

Thanks so much for this thread. I also have this pain in my chest. about 8 years ago I had my gall bladder removed because I was experiencing these same symptoms. Within the last few years though I have gotten these pains again. Had a stress test with no apparent heart problems. Another clue in the long line of symptoms that may point to as MS diagnosis. Will have to let the doc in on this one.
