Anyone suffer from MS and another autoimmune disease?

Hi friends,

I have Crohn's Disease and I have recently been diagnosed with "probable" MS from a wonderful group of doctors at Johns Hopkins and am going back this month for 3 more tests-lumbar puncture, MRI of spine, and VEP.  My MRI showed evidence of 9 abnormal lesions and I've been having the classic symptoms: blurred vision, dizziness, numbness/tingling, sensation issues, weak muscles, etc...I also have a Vitamin D and B-12 deficiencies.  Do any of you suffer from other autoimmune diseases as well as MS, and if so, how do you function?

Hi Vandygrad97,

I am sorry to hear of your many problems. You have quite a signature. I have heard that if you have one autoimmune disease you are at risk for more. We have had members here with more than one diagnosis. It is really not that uncommon.

Have you considered a progression therapy if you are diagnosed with MS? You may want to google the big four: betaseron, copaxone, rebif, and avonex. Good luck.

I also have to deal with IBS-C, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation. The IBS has been with me since I was a child..The MS started when I was about 23.

Hi Vandy,

I have MS, fibromyalgia and likely Crohns or IBS.  I'm realizing that these all stem from the same foundation and have decided to detoxify my body.  I have found that by eating only organic fruits & vegetables, sprouted grains, and purified water (absolutely no prepared or grocery store food) that my constipation problems turned around, as well as my fatigue, balance, visual, parasthesia/weakness problems, and pain, have been greatly alleviated.  I have also found St.Johns Wort (3 - 300mg supplements a day) is what lifted my depression and seriously countered the pain I was experiencing, without putting any additional toxins in my body via pharmeceuticals.  I can't encourage you enough to look into detoxifying your body;  it is my opinion that I have been able to cease the onslaught of further autoimmunes developing, while at the same time possibly revearsing the damage to my various systems that began this cascading autoimmune effect.  I wish you the best!

Welcome to the board blondie.  Wow I am impressed.  Where do you get your food if not at a grocery store?  You must have some good produce stands near you.  Good luck with your detox program.

Thanks for the advice. Been trying almost everything except voodoo(would probably do it if it worked...lol)
The neurologist stopped counting lesions on my brain at 60. I KNOW that the only reason I'm functioning is by the Grace of God.
I'm thankful that I found this forum because sometimes I feel VERY alone. I spent many years having people close to me believing I was crazy or psyco-somatic.
Has anyone else run into that kind of treatment before diagnosis?

Hello, My name is Peg and yes, I have MS & thyroiditis.  I don't know if I am with any other ones.  I have a list but, it does not list all of them.
