Good morning - irritable....oh yes, you are not alone. I can be humming along, and just out of no where, become irritated, frustrated, etc. And unfortunately, the person who happens to be within ear shot get the load. then I feel bad, and then I feel ashamed, and then I feel depressed. I believe that this is the key word here, Depression. Without even knowing - u could have some creep up on you. I thought depression always was related to sadness, etc. but since being dx with MS, and noting the depressed moods that I get once in awhile, I began to research depression, as it relates to MS, and was surprised to find that it is common, and some of the symptoms (moe so then sadness) were bout of anxiety, frustration, irritability, and then lashing out to someone. Bit of an emotional roller coaster...of course sometimes inappropriate laughter and at times the tears flow for really no reason at all.
I find that when I am irritable, and knowing now what will happen (like saying something stupid to someone) I will remove myself from the situation, sit and relax, take an ativan to reduce the anxiety that is associated to this, go for a walk and clear my head, things like that. Seems to work for me, for the most part.
