Hi everyone,

I know it's been awhile since I have posted. Very busy summer for me. Anyway, I hope someone can help with out .

Hi Katie,

My MS is also left sided and once (10 years ago) my left leg just would not bear any weight at all. It was like there was no leg there at all. I kept falling flat on my face. Scary! My dr put me on a short course of cortisone and it has never reoccurred. Perhaps it would work for you. Ask your dr what to do.

Hey Katie,

This sounds like a compression issue.  Have you considered an inversion table of some sort to try and stretch your back out?  Ask your doctor of course.  This might really help.  Good luck!

My PCP highly recommends them.  He says they are not a quick fix but it can avoid surgery.  He says it can take 12 to 24 months.  I just got a forward facing inversion frame.  It is a bit different from the table.  I have researched beyond anything reasonable and this is what I am going to try.  I have purchaced it but not yet assembled it.  The assembly looks to be a bit of an IQ test LOL.  I will tell you how I like it.  I have a herniated neck disc as well as mild compression in my lower back.  I am hoping this helps.

This is what I got.  It was actually cheaper last week.  You need to check this place, it has pretty decent prices.  You can also check craigslist.  I am always seeing inversion tables for cheap.  Teeter seems to be the most prolific name with the best reviews.  The one I saw was priced around $250.  I have seem them on craigslist for as little as $75.  Keep your eyes open. 

This one seems like it would open your lower back up a big more.  I like the idea of stretching and lengthening that area.  I do have lower back pain not associated with MS.  I also have that herniated neck disc from MS spasticity.  I will tell you how I like this do-dad once I get it assembled and give it a try.  It could be a total bust; if that happens I will try to return it or craigslist it myself  :)

Ok the forward facing inversion thingy has been built and tested.  I LOVE IT.  It is sorta scary to use it the first time but it is so nice.  There are no adjustable postions though.  It is full inversion or nothing.  I think the traditional inversion table may appeal to others for that reason.  I really like it though.  I can only stay inverted for about 90 seconds and the blood rushing to my head gets a bit uncomfortable but I suspect I can work up to a bit more time.  I have used it alternating sitting up for a second to get rid of that blood rush.  I have used it only a few times but the stretch you get lasts for hours.
