question re dr/patient

My doctor called me in but I had several tests before I received a diagnosis.  I haven't heard of many peope receiving a diagnois from just an MRI.  Many things can cause brain lesions and those all have to be ruled out.  I had a brain, cervical spine and thorasic spine MRIs.  I had a lumbar puncture, evoked potentials (extremeties, hearing and vision), blood work, a neurological exam.  After all that, I was diagnosed.

Good luck.  I hope you get good news and it is something very treatable. 

Don't rely on you Doctor ringing you, though some do, a lot don't, mine didn't. I had 2 MRIs and I had to chase up both, I was eventually told after much persuasion, that my results were clear, then I went for an appointment with my neurologist 3 weeks later and he then informed me that there were lesions on my brain MRI after all, however they were not suggestive of MS in my case. But I was extremely annoyed to be told they were clear when in fact they weren't.

If you are concerned, ring your Doctor for reassurance. Please don't assume no news means clear results.
