anyone have a plasma transfer done before?

I'm having a bad flare.  I've done 2 rounds of Solumedrol and still not improving.  My neurologist said the next step is a 5 day in hospital to do a blood plasma transfer to take the anitbodies out of my blood.  I guess they do it through a tube in the neck?...anyone had this done can you tell me about what to expect?
