Hey guys,

I was just reading some of your threads and you mention dizziness as a predominant symptom of ms. Lately I have been sooo dizzy and I am unable to work and Im waiting for an authorization for an MRI. My neurologist did do a spinal tap and it showed mildly elevated protein but he told me he needs an mri to make an accurate diagnosis. He said that ms can be diagnosed just based off of blood work and csf fluid and he said I was negative for all the pre cursors and I dont have ms. I just wanted to know if that was true or not.. Im really, really, really scared. Any advice would be great.

This is a great site that will fully detail the diagnostic steps for MS. (above link)

Usual tests are: a lumbar puncture with oligolconal bands and no indication of infection in blood, blood work that rules out all symptoms, MRI of brain and possibly neck and back that shows white matter lesions, a neuro exam with indicative responses and reflexes (L'hermittes sign, Babinski's response).

You may want to see an MS specialist. Call your local MS society for a list of doctors.
