HELP

This is familiar to me, maybe I can help. I was diagnosed at 17, relatively early they say but it happens (I am now 19) and my initial symptom had been a numbness in my left thigh that grew to be both my legs toes to hip, a loss of balance, and some coordination issues which made running, walking (and wearing flipflops :) ) difficult. I also had lhermittes symptom which is what you seem to be describing when you say that you put your head down and a warm tingling shoots down your back. According to my doctor it was a classic sign of MS so I got the MRIs done and had the diagnosis confirmed. In 4 or 5 months my symptoms had reached their peak and then subsided to the point where now I am considered symptom free. My symptoms were not particularly painful so I'm afraid I can't relate on that point but I do understand the fear in not knowing what's going to happen, what is happening. I would definitely call your doctor back and tell her about the pain you're experiencing, ask her if she knows of anything to ease it but if it's MS related then there isn't much the ER could do. I have heard many people recommend hot showers and exercize (especially yoga) for pain control in MS. perhaps you can move up your MRIs? i would definitely look into meeting with a neurologist with those MRIs (you could set up the meeting in advance) the neurologist I met with was much more prepared for my questions than my regular doctor. Good luck with this, it's hard to face these large medical questions but keep breathing through it, you are not alone. There are others like you (like me) and there is help.
