Early Signs - and intermittent or continuous?

Hi,

My mom had MS and I always have a big fear of myself getting it, or worse, my kids.  I've been experiencing strange symptoms lately so am a bit extra nervous, but also have back issues so it could be nerve stuff related to that.

Am so sorry for anyone with an MS diagnosis.  What I'm wondering is

a)  What were your early symptoms?

b)  Did the symptoms come and go, or once you had them were they continuous?

Hi Lu,

My presenting symptom was very mild numbness in my thumb. I ignored it for a couple of years thinking it was just a pinched nerve or whatever. Then I woke up with vertigo. It got worse over a period of 3 weeks until I couldn't walk.

My symptoms do not come and go. They come and stay. There can be a bit of variation in the severity but my residual symptoms are always present.

I'm so sorry Gretchen.  I saw the frustration and limitaitons in my mom with not being able to walk.

I am having the odd numbness...either bottom of my feet if I go on the treadmill, or fingers or arm when i lye on it at night time or put pressure right way.  Also have leg pains at night when lying down...but the symptoms come and go and so are not always there.
