Hi everyone,

I just found this sight and found it very informative.  I have recently been diagnosed with MS and must admit it scared me to death!!  I have since calmed down and have begun to educate myself.

Welcome! I'm glad to hear you are starting to learn about MS. It's the first step in becoming your own advocate. Are you taking any disease modifying meds?!

Hi, I am a new member and found this thread because of emmasmom post about the sensation of throat being tightly pressed on. I have not been diagnosed but have several disturbing symptoms of MS, the throat thing being the latest. I'm so glad googling led me here, especially to this thread.

Welcome. I'm sorry you find yourself looking for answers to your symptoms. I too have experienced the tight throat deal. It is disturbing.

Thank you for your greeting. I am sorry you have experienced the the throat tightening among other symptoms, but it is a relief to know it's something that does happen maybe as a manifestation of the MS hug.
I have unwittingly pressed the ignore button. I do hope this quick reply will negate my mistake. I am going to search to make sure.

Yeah. I had the sensation of a tight band low on my neck for several months. It eventually went away, however it comes back when I am very tired, stressed or overly warm.

Have you seen a doctor? Have you begun testing?

I have a vacation home in the eastern sierras. I have piñon pine trees there and I love biting the needles. Sounds weird, but the smell is glorious and the taste is like orange juice and pine.

Tired, stressed, and hotter than blue blazes here in Georgia results in that lower band tightening.

I am working through my primary care doctor who ordered all the blood tests a Neurologist would ( ANA, RA, B12 and Folate, Sed Rate, Free T/4TSH, A1c, Liver, Lipid, CBC, CMP )while getting me in to see a Neurologist, hopefully in the next month.
I had a Carotid Doppler, Thursday, and my doctor did a sensation test on both big toes to see how long it took for me to feel. He kept patting me on the shoulder, I think he has his suspicions.

The taste, texture, and scent of freshly bitten pine needles- comfort food for the body and brain.

Finally, the tight band at the bottom of my throat has loosened. I am so grateful for this!
