Progressively spreading tingling/cold sensation

Hi,
32/F. Got fully deaf in one ear 15 years ago with sudden deafness, no change since then with regards to hearing.

One month ago, for about a week, a muscle right below my left eye would twitch madly, particularly right before bed and in the shower. This has since gone away.

Five days ago, I woke up feeling a tingling on my left half of the entire body, face included. No numbness, no loss of sensation, stability, or control. Today, it has spread to both sides of my body, and I have started to feel cold (only to me, others feel my hands to be fine) in addition to tingling, starting with the left big toe, then the right big toe, then some fingers on each hand.

Went to the ER and managed to get an MRI of the brain and neck quickly, but the docs couldn’t find anything wrong. Waiting on various blood test results.

I'm not scared of the tingling, I'm scared of what's next. It seems to be getting worse. Any ideas? My (older) sisters and parents/grandparents are all totally healthy with only occupational injuries.

Hello & welcome to Healing Well. Have you already been diagnosed with MS? That is good news the MRI's checked out ok, now to see how the blood work comes back. Are you under the care of a neurologist by chance? Sorry for the questions. In the meantime, try not to stress out over the what if's, we really have no way of predicting those. In the meantime. Let us know what you find out.

No, no diagnoses of any kind. This is all very recent/unraveling now, so I'm in the process of figuring out what is wrong and what I should be asking the docs about. Back to the hospital again today.

I will update this thread when I get more info.

None of your symptoms are associated with MS. Deafness from MS is almost unheard of. There are two major nerves associated with hearing. Both would have to be destroyed by lesions for you to go completely deaf from MS.

Whole body tingling is also not a symptom of MS. You've had an MRI that showed nothing wrong. If you had lost your hearing due to MS, that would have shown up on the MRI. You're indeed sick. You have something wrong, but in my opinion it doesn't appear to be MS.

You can always get a second opinion. Get copies of your recent MRI and see a neurologist who specializes in MS.
