I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, degenerative disc with stenosis, osteoarthritis, chronic fatigue (Chronic Pain Syndrome) with total back fusion from the arthritis. Now I have something neurological going on. It started with twitches in my hands, drooping eyelid, falling and having no recollection of doing so, severe cramps in my legs, feet and sides and muscle tightening which causes my knees and arms to flex and jerk and I drop things constantly and don't realize I've dropped them until they hit the floor. I have had a head MRI, full back MRI and they say it is not MS nor is it my back problems. I have had every blood test imaginable.They have ruled out 6 neurological diseases and are now sending me for EMG testing. They suspect ALS and I'm stressing more about a non-diagnosis. Does anyone know how you can speed up a diagnosis. I've heard of a clinic in Toronto, ON and am considering that. They do every test imaginable to find a diagnosis. Does anyone have any other suggestions? confused

What you are experiencing is called subjective, this would be the things you feel and experience --- your symptoms. Your Drs. are looking for objective signs for your symptoms, this is done through testing and evaluations/exams. If testing isn't showing something is wrong then it's pretty darn difficult for your Drs. to give any kind of diagnosis. It sounds like they are trying to find objective evidence with all of the different testing being done.

Without objective evidence you will need patience. Speeding up a diagnosis of whatever might be going on isn't possible if all testing is normal.

Thanks Snoopy. I am trying to be patient but the stress has brought on my fibromyalgia and I'm in terrible pain with that. I'm trying to keep upbeat which helps somewhat. I'll keep on keepin' on!

Fibromyalgia can be a lot to deal with , without the additional things going on..

I get the muscle cramping sometimes at night , as well as spasms , sometimes even while stretching.. ugh..muscle twitching..etc.

At least they have been active testing with you and trying to figure it out...

Stay as calm as you can cause the stress does add to the pain for sure

What helps your fibro?

Have you checked with the cleveland clinic or mayo here in the states?

I walk a km every day and do stretches prior to that. I am on medical cannabis oil (total CBD) which works wonderfully. I also do exercises in my hot tub. These all seem to help as well as cutting the grass (1 acre) with a self-propelled and push mower and looking after my chickens. I try to stay active and I work through my pain most days. I also bought a memory foam pillow and mattress topper which have increased my sleep from 3 to 5 hrs. a night and I wake in less pain. I'm starting to drink chamomile tea which is also helping me relax.

I live in Canada and could never afford the medical expense in the US on a disability pension. Otherwise I might go that route. I'm hoping the clinic in Toronto can help me.
