Hi everyone. I've not posted before so please bare with me.

I have had strange symptoms for a few years now and My GP has failed to find anything wrong. My symptoms are as follows.

After exertion ie walking or digging in the garden, an hour or so later I get a feeling of weakness in the limb I have been useing, like I have been carrying something for a long time and then put it down. This is followed by extreem pain in the limb, similar to that felt as a kid when my mum said I had growing pains, but much more painful.I also get this pain in my legs if I have done a lot of walking. The only way to releive it is to put a hot water bottle on it until the burning of the bottle overtakes the pain of the muscle.

Another symptom is pins and needles in my left hand that wakes me up. It is only in my ring and little finger and starts as numbness, it is not due to laying awkwardly as I an usually laying on my back when it starts. I can also fell a strange sensation of tingling in my thumb on the same hand if I run an object down my arm just above the thumb.

In the past, about 5 months ago I would wake in the night with severe pain in my elbow joints. It was made worse if I moved them but was very painful if I kept them still a no win situation. This has been something that comes back at times.

I also have problems when urinating. I think I have finnised and wipe myself then stand up and urine runs down my leg. I can also be sitting and feel a leaking sensation but I don't need to go.

Please be honest, if it is not the symptoms of MS the please say so as I really need to find out what this really is.

These aren't particularly symptoms of MS. The pins-and-needles in your hand, and your elbow joints could be carpal tunnel. Probably worth seeing a neurologist to be tested for peripheral neuropathy problems (problems with signal transmissions in your extremities). If he doesn't find anything there, then maybe a rheumatologist, to look for arthritis (either osteoarthritis, the "regular kind; or rheumatoid arthritis...but generally you'd have pain in more areas than you describe..) The bladder problems could simply be, because you're a woman. You don't say how old you are, or whether you've had children. Lots of women, without any other sort of problems, experience bladder problems, particularly after having had children.

Yes, I agree, what uppitycats said. LOL

This could be one of many different things. Best to go get checked out, and keep going until some answers are found.

Glad to see u here and that u've found a place to ask questions. I agree with Uppitycats and Neurotransmissing...these probs need to be checked out by a doc. A neurologist could check for anything causing the pins and needles or other type of nerve conduction symptoms. Also, the rheumatologist to look for reasons for u'r joint pain. I'm sure there are many tests that still need to be performed..and much has to be ruled out in order to rule in ms. Unfortunately, there isnt' a quick answer to ms. I wish u the best in u'r search. Keep posting here and asking questions. We will all try very hard to answer anything u question..and will be here to support u during ur search.

Hi Wendy,

Welcome to Healing Well and the MS forum. What you are describing doesn't really sound like what typically presents in MS. The pins and needle sensation you are experiencing sounds like some type of problem with the ulnar nerve in the elbow. Ulnar nerve problems can cause those sensations in your little and ring fingers. The muscular pain and weakness can be caused by a number of things. I agree with the others that a visit to a specialist would be in order as they can often look deeper into these types of issues than a GP can. Don't give up until you get some answers and hang in there. Hope you feel better soon!

hey everyone,

i am 28 yrs old, male. i have been experiencing pins and needles in my hands, feet and toes. its mostly in my hands. i am pretty healthy other than the fact that i am borderline hypertension when it comes to blood pressure. my mom has high bp. but ive just started to get these sensations. its pretty much always there, sometimes worse sometimes not that bad but basically always feeling pins and needles for the past few days. i know i should get checked out, i need to get a GP. the urget care doc told me it was probly carpel tunnel, but he didnt have an answer when i asked him if that effects feet as well.

can someone tell me if i should be worried that this might be ms?

ps. i didnt think it was carpel tunnel because other than the pins and needles i dont really feel pain or swelling in my wrists.

Hi,

BP problems can also cause numbness and tingling.  Also, diabetes can cause this.  There are numerous causes other than Ms. You definately need to get in with your GP, they can rule other things out first.  I hope you don't have MS.  Try not to worry about it, chances are it isn't MS.

Hi syngin,

Welcome! While pins and needles is a symptom of MS there is also many other causes of it so I wouldn't panic just yet :) Are you having any other problems such as fatigue or numbness? Does it seem to get better after you change positions? Are you on any medications? Sometimes meds can cause that problem. Other things to consider are diabetes, thyroid problems or b-12 deficiency. I do hope it gets better for you, just giving you some other alternatives to look into. Please let us know how you are doing and what the doc says.

thank you both for all your help and input, im going to try to get in to the doctor this week if i can. i'll make sure to give an update when i have some more info. thanks again. its nice to know there are people out there who really care :)

You may want to ask the Doctor about Cubital Tunnel also. I have it, and it's not fun. It is nerve entrapment at the elbow. Unfortunatly, I am having the isses in other places also. Still trying to figure out all my issues. Not sure if I should be here or in Lupus. But I'm looking into both. I don't want to be classified as either, but something is terribly wrong and i get the "looks" from the Doctors like I'm crazy in pain from depression, when the pain actually started first, then came the depression.
