Hi all.

Hope everyone is well.  I'm doing ok, but really curious about something.  I was SO constipated for about 2 weeks, and started getting this vibrating feeling in my lower abdomen.  It lasts for about 2 seconds, and repeats every 10 seconds or so.  It went away for a while, but is back again.  I'm wondering if it could be nerve damage from being so constipated?  Why would it be rythmic?  I notice when I lay in bed it travels down one leg too. 

Any thoughts?  I did mention it to the MS clinic.

Hi Shar,

What did the MS clinic say? If you didn't get an answer, I suggest you ask again and also phone your neuro. This does not sound like something that should continue, you should get this resolved promptly. I'm not aware of this and am not familiar with seeing it on the board here, nor do I have this as you describe either. Perhaps you'll get more feedback if anyone else has suffered similarly. Still, nonetheless, you need to get it addressed ASAP, it is very bad to suffer that much constipation ... that much, I do know.

I'm sorry, no help on this, but wanted to let u know i was following and hope u get some answers soon. I had some vibration in my hands recently and it was kind like how u said....started and stopped over and over, but never went anywhere else and never seemed possibly related to any other condition. I hope this gets resolved very quickly for u. Are u still dealing with the constipation? I hope that's better as well. I was diagnosed with irritable bowel several years ago...but have the opposite prob...and i can certainly sympthize with u. Let us all know how u are and what the doc says. I'll be thinking of u.

Hi Shar,  I have lots of problems with constipation and often times it can be over a week before anything happens...hmmm, you know what I mean?  I haven't felt the buzzing sensation in my abdomen before but have in my limbs like a vibration of sorts.  My doctor told me to start adding Flax Seed Oil or the caps to my med regime to help with constipation (take a lot of other meds that cause that).  Definitely report it to your doctor as Cindy suggested as it isn't healthy to no go for that long of time and can cause lots of other medical complications.  Take care

I have am having the same symptoms today.  And it is driving me crazy.  Its like this wierd buzzing in my lower abdomen that last for 2 seconds and comes back every 5-8 seconds.  What is this?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your replies.  I can't believe I saw the neurologist today, and forgot to ask them about this buzzing sensation, Aboc.  What a dummy I am.  lol.  I guess I just chalked it up to MS and have been trying to ignore it, but it is still there.  I reduced my dose of Betaseron and it seems to have lessened it (I increased my dosage too quickly and it knocked me on my butt).  I wonder if starting the injections caused the buzzing, are you on them too?  I will call the nurse and get her to ask my neuro.

Els, thanks for the suggestions of Flax seed.  I picked up some powdered flax seed today and am going to dump it on my bran cereal, as my bowels are still not moving properly at all.

Shar thanks for the reply. I am not on anything. It just started today. It so annoying. I hope it goes away soon. I haved searched the internet but with no success.

Aboc,

I couldn't find anything on the internet either, or on this forum.  Personal question, but do you also suffer from constipation?  My buzzing sensation seemed to start at the time of a bad bout of it.

Im not diagnosed, but for yrs have had issues with bladder and bowels. Either cant go or go too much lol I guess just another issue to deal with. I was dx's with spastic colon about 6 yrs ago and have to really watch if i havent gone for a few days to take a laxative. The uti's i havent had for about a yr, my GP put me on an antibotic that I take after intercourse which has help alot. So weird talking about bowel and urinary issues lol
