i get my mri scan tomorrow im sure i have ms i have fatigue i have a weak left arm and leg now certain mornings i wake up with numb fingers but the numbness goes away in seconds,i am going to egypt at the beginning of may i have been looking forward to it but not so much now with all this going on,i have read that hot weather can make symptoms worse is this true as i love the heat and sunbathing etc i was wanting to go on a day trip to see the pyramids but i struggle to walk far and it will be hotand the day trip is a lot of walking,i would like to hear other ppls holidays experience, thanks
I have indeed taken a lot of trips...but have done careful planning to be sure I wouldn't be in areas where it is hot and humid (like, I'd never consider Egypt, and when I did go to the Philippines I went in the middle of winter when temperatures there were at least "moderate" -- low 80's).
Hot and humid can be very difficult for someone with MS. It can cause symptoms to worsen temporarily (improving once the body is cool again). And it can increase fatigue.
I use a wheelchair full time, so I'm always looking for those day trips that don't require walking, or I stay behind and let my husband go and come back with pictures.
You say you're sure you have MS...are the weak left arm, leg, and temporarily numb fingers your only symptoms? If so -- you're a long way from diagnosis. There can be lots of reasons for those problems, and some of those things are fixable, treatable, and a lot less debilitating than MS can be. Good luck with your MRI. Let us know how it goes.
