Has anyone used Lamotrigine ?

  Hi Everyone,

 Iam back from the MS clinic in Halifax. The doctor has suggested that rather than go on the usual

Meds for MS, he suggested that I try Lamotrigine  (an epilepy medication that is suppose to work on the electrical impulses in the brain and central nervous system) that they are using for MS patients to help with the nerve pain, mood swings, ( I would like to get somewhat back to my happy go lucky self !) and an ability to concentrate and remember, as my short term memory is the pits. Much of this may be due to me going through the stress of a divorce after 28 years of marriage. Can't put it all down to MS. Does anyone know of anyone taking these meds?  I have secondary progressive MS and whereas I am not sure of the benefits of the usual meds for 2ndary progressive I have chosen not to pursue them at this time (and because I hate the thought of needles with these unsteady hands.) My daughter who is an ER Nurse came with me to the doctor's appointment which was very helpful as one cannot remember all the things that were said so she wrote a great deal down and asked the doctor some questions that I had forgotten to  to ask. She remembered to ask him about my swallowing and choking and enunciating problems so he is referring me to a speech pathologist. The good thing is that I can go to the MS clinic anytime I want and speak to the MS nurse that has me as his patient. As my daughter lives in Halifax, it gives me a place to stay with someone I dearly love when I am down there. Thanks for answering me so quickly. I know that I have alienated some on the site and I feel badly about that as I am usually a very kind and considerate person.
