 I am new to this forum and hope someone can help me with a question. I have had pulmonary fibrosis for many years but over the last few months apparently developed a condition where for some reason I only breathe 2 to 4 times per minute during sleep. Due to this my docs ordered an MRI to rule out a lesion. The only thing that apparently showed up were two small areas of white matter plaques, which one of was apparently present on an earlier MRI of 3 years ago. These are in the posterior parietal region. The radiologist felt they were not of clinical significance, but I know that sometimes the radiologist and the doctor sees things differently.  I don't see the neurologist until next week but was wondering if someone could tell me if white matter placques were mainly a MS indicator, or could it be one of many other issues? Thanks for any info.

When I google white matter plaque I come up with sites that talk about this condition in relation to circulatory problems, which might indicate heart or stroke related issues. Did you actually talk to the *radiologist*, or a radiology technician? The radiologist would be better informed...but you're quite right to wait until the doctor sees the MRI, and talks with you about it, as often it's a matter of not just results from an MRI, but also what else the doctor knows about your specific condition.
