Hi guys,

Well I've got the flu for the second time this winter.  Blech. I can appreciate what you guys who have bad side effects from injections go through on a regular basis now.  I'm sorry!

I was doing some searching on the internet and read that people with MS have a 1 in 3 chance of having a relapse in the weeks following the flu because it raises some level that I can't recall.  That's super... I hope I'm in the 2/3rds that don't.  yeah

You can bet I'll be getting the flu shot next year... although my fiance did and he's sitting here beside me with the flu too.  Misery loves company!

I'm sorry you're ill!  Misery must love company...my husband has been sick all week, and I started getting it yesterday.  Ugh.  And yes, I did get the flu shot...I'm hoping that I won't be as sick as my husband!

I don't know what statistic you might have read.  I know that when I get any sort of fever, my MS symptoms worsen, and then retreat once I get the fever under control.

I hope you feel better soon...and I'm rummaging around for a pot of chicken soup.  sad

I haven't read any statics recently about getting the flu then having a relapse, but from my experience there is a direct correlation... although the link I have may be a little weak lol. I RARELY get the flu or sick, in fact I have only been sick ONCE in the last three years... within the week I had the worst relapse I have had to date... skull

I do hope you start to feel better soon without MS having anything to say about it... sad

Good morning Shar and uppitycat,

I'm sorry to hear you guys aren't feeling well. I wish I was closer (I'm in California) and I'd be happy be bring you both some chicken soup. :-) I wish there were chats in the middle of the night. I've had quite a bit of insomnia lately (due to stress I'm sure) and seem to be awake for hours. It's 4:24, so I should try to get a bit of shut up before I officially wake up at 6:30. :( You guys feel better. I'll pray for you both a speedy recovery!

Hi Shar -

I always get the flu shot and haven't gotten it yet this year. KNOCK ON WOOD... However my parents both got the shot and both have been sick with the flu twice this year as well. It holds on for about 24 hours and then is gone, I wonder if there was a bad bunch of vaccines out there! Hope you start feeling better.

Goodness lots of ill people with the flu!  Maybe there is more than one strain going on this year?  I dunno but I do hope all of you that have it get well soon!

There's always a couple of weird strains out there. And without actually going to be tested, I don't know for certain that I have the flu...

but it was just a week or so ago that I got the shot -- late this year -- so probably was exposed to it before I got the shot anyway. Ugh. I wish indeed it was the 24 hour variety...but my husband has been sick for 4 days now, and I'm not happy. He's heading out of town tomorrow...I have to drive him 1-1/2 hours to the airport, then home, and I feel like poo. Oh well. Then he'll be gone for a week, so I can curl up in bed with my furkids and not have to do much but get well.

Wow Uppity that is a lot of driving when ur not feeling well.. I hope by the time you read this you are back in bed with the soft furry sweetness of ur animals and a cup of tea :-)

Hey Everyone....Shar and Uppity especially!

MY GOODNESS!!! Feel better! I hope u guys aren't sick too long. It's such a drag to be sick, but we all suffer with u'r absence. Take care and let us know how u'r doing. Uppity, i hope the drive went quickly as possible for u.

I'm not sure of any link between illness and a flare, but i'm a believer in stress on the body bringing on symptoms..so there u go!

I'm home -- dropped him off WAY early but he was like a little kid .. "gotta go!! we're going to be late!! I don't want to miss the plane!!!!!" I think he was there like 3 hours ahead of schedule. :) Oh well. He had a good book to read. But I literally dropped him -- didn't even turn off the car engine, turned around, and drove home. Had a bit of lunch, checking my emails, and am heading to bed. Feeling punky..but relieved that my husband is gone and I won't have to pay attention to meal times or taking care of anything other than feeding the furkids. And they won't let me forget!!
