follow up

Hi All,

I had the trial Interstim over the weekend.  It really did help with the bladder porblems.  I was able to wait 1 1/2 - 2hours instead of every 1/2-1 hour.  It also seemed like my bladder emptied better.  As for the bowels, I think it may have helped slightly but my doc said it takes longer for the bowels to respond. 

 

One bad thing is I had a terrible reaction to the adhesive they applied over the wires to hold them in.  I am very red, raw, swollen and blistered on a 5x5 square area.  I told them about my adhesive allergy but the doc said they HAD to use this material to hold the wires in.  I called her office this morning and told them how much agony I am in and when she saw it she couldn't believe how bad it was.  All she could do for me was prescribe some cream and tell me to take benadryl and 1-10mg. dose of prednisone.  Nothing has helped yet!

 

I am scheduled for next Tuesday to have it permanently implanted.  On a funny note, they told me I would set the alarms off at airports after I have it! I will have to carry a card.

 

Also, I will have my brain MRI on Wed. My neuro wanted another one since I won't be able to have one after the surgery.

Yippeee!!!! :)) I'm so glad to see u had some improvement..and as Denda said, any type of improvement is a blessing! I do sincerely hope and pray that the long term improvment will be great for u. Hummm...wonder if lidocaine cream would help the allergic area?? Maybe just numb it up some so u don't feel the itch and raw feeling. That's what they give my daughter for use just before her shots and it works great at numbing the surface.

I'm with u in thought and prayer on Tues and just know u'll do great on the permenant implant! Looking forward to knowing u'r feeling better!! Take good care friend and let us know how u'r doing. ;)
