FIRST COPAXONE INJECTION YESTERDAY

I must say I was really worried about sticking myself everyday. The training nurse came to my house yesterday, and taught me how to inject the medicine. The nurse asked me which area of the body I was most afraid of doing, and without thinking I said the stomach, and she said well that's where the first one is gonna go then. I thought that was pretty sneaky but it worked out, because it was nowhere near as bad as I thougt it would be. The site reaction was gone in a couple of minutes. I really want to thank everyone who wrote their encouraging advice. It helps alot when you know your not alone.  THANKS!!

I'm glad that went well. It's funny -- I ONLY inject in my stomach..or very rarely, in my thighs. Every place else they recommend gives me the willies! :)

WOOOHOOOOO!!!!!! Way to go!!!! U"ll do just fine as u go along and get used to the injections. Good going...for the nurse too! ;)

Awesome!  I'll have to remember that tactic if the need ever arises for me to have to have injections.  But I'm sure if the time ever does come, I'll be panicing and forget the tactic and blurt it out anyways.  I hope all the rest are as easy as this one.  Keep posting the good days of the injections, it makes those of us in limboland not as afraid of a dx of MS. :-)

And of course the actuality is never as bad as the angst experienced beforehand.

 

Great stuff.  And just think of all the diabetic patients who shoot themselves every day.

Congratulations!!  Not as bad as you thought huh?  Quite sneaky of that nurse I agree!  Best wishes on all your future injections, you'll be a pro in no time!

It's been a while since I've been online, but reading this thread always brings a smile to my face. I'm still catching up, and have only made it this far, so I'm sure I'll drop you a line agian soon. Take care of you. :-)

Hey Irishheat13, I'm glad everything went well for you !! I'm also on Copaxone and took my first needle in Feb. I am terrified of needles so when the nurse was here and I was about to make my first injection...it took me over 30 minutes to build up the courage !! (My hands were cold and dripping sweat I was so scared - my Boyfriend was laughing at me ! ). After I did it, I couldn't believe I was so scared of that !! It was much easier than I thought so I'm glad you felt the same way afterwards. P.S. I thought the thigh would be the easiest, but my favorite actually turned out to be the butt and stomach.

Congrats on doing such a great job with your first injection.  I am glad it was a positive experience for you.  Yeah! I agree, your nurse was a sweet 'n sneaky one! I personally prefer my stomach for injections but my right quad is my favorite spot because my quad is basically numb everyday so I barely feel the needle go in. It might sound kind of silly but I actually thank the Lord for the loss of feeling in my right quad for that reason alone. Hey have to find a rainbow in everything right??? LOL
