Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has taken and amandatine for fatigue?  And how bad was the fatigue before you  used it? I get a bit fatigued id I do something strenuos for too long, so I a not sure if I should take it?

Also, has anyone tried anti depressents for the leg tinging.  Occasionally I get leg tingling in bed, and my doctor suggested Nortryptalyne(sp?) Anyone have  any experiance with this?

Hi Gunzen,

I tryed the amandatine and it gave me wicked mood swings...the switched me to provigil and it works great. I use Gabapentin AKA: neurotin, for the tinglies......But I am in a major flare right now from waste down i am having tinglies ten forward, with pain worst than labor. Sorry got off topic. Have not tried Nortriptaline for any of this.

Wow, Bonnie!!!

I am so sorry!  When did this start?  What is your doctor doing about it?  During my last flare, I had a lot of pain and found some decent relief from Klonopin.  I hope you are feeling better soon.  Are you getting any treatment for the flare???  Steroids???  Let us know how are doing.  Keep us posted.  And good luck, girl.

Hummm...can't remember the exact name for the med i tried, but think it was something like Ampytriptilene or something like that. Anyway, i tried that first for the general tired feeling as my doc thought i was experiencing...but it was much more than that. I moved on from that doc to my neuro and he gave me Welbutrin...horrid results, made me soooo depressed...then tried provigil. That worked well for about 2 weeks and then basically just didn't feel like it was doing any good at all. Finally i was given Cymbalta and it has been a wonder drug for me! It worked great for the fatigue and seems to have helped the other symptoms overall. Nothing has taken any of it away totally, but Cymbalta sure seems to have helped at least some. As for anything else...i've also used Neurontin and it's GREAT!! I have lots of leg pain and seems lately some nerve pain. I was given the Neurontion to use in conjunction with Requip...what i used already for my legs, but not just for the pain. The requip also helps with the jerking/jumping and twitching. Anyway...the combo of Requip, Neurontin and Cymbalta seems to have helped me a lot. Maybe some meds to just ask aobut. I hope u'll get some relief very soon.

Awww...friend, i'm so sorry!! Not any better, huh? That sounds like a nasty flare. Did u get the iv steriods?? I can't believe u'r flaring again...i'm really sorry! U'r just not catching many breaks! Hang in there friend...i'm keeping u in my prayers and thoughts...and i just know u'r going to get going again soon. Please do let us know how u are...and call on me if u need me friend.

Hi Gunzen,

I also tried Amantadine, but couldn't stick with it long enough to see if it helped any as it made me dizzy/lightheaded and that didn't bode well with my anxiety.  I am currently trying the amino acid supplement Carnitine as it doesn't affect the central nervous system.  My tingling hasn't been bad enough to really bother me so I haven't taken anything for it yet.

Bonnie, so sorry to hear about your flare!  I am in one too from the waist down, looks like it is from a bladder infection.  I hope you feel better really soon..  pain stinks!!

my doctor prescribed amatadine with the caveat "It probably won't work." I guess I have to take it for awhile before they can prescribe provigil. I've been having mood swings and a lot of depression. wonder if that's the amatadine? Tried an anti-depressant but preferred to sleep at night and couldn't take both. Not sure why. So, right now I'm taking Rebif, lyrica, and ambien. My feet hurt so bad sometimes and if I don't take the lyrica in time it gets much worse.

For me, and a lot of MS patients, fatigue is THE worsu MS symtom.

 

I mean, after a full nights sleep, by 10:3o, I am beat. 

 

And no one can appreciate the level of our fatigue, unless you are another MS patient,right everyone?

 

I am very lucky--my wife works for a hospital in Detroit with great health benefits...I take Provigil...and when she brings home a refill, the co-pay is $20.00

 

And on the reciept, there is the price if you do not have insurance.

 

$780.00  Wowsa....I have said it before...I do not know what I would do without Robin's coverage...

 

Yes, I know what I'd do....not take Provigil.  John
