Hi all,

 

I have been having some pretty unpleasant muscle spasms/spasticity issues lately, and my neuro prescribed ativan for me by phone. I am wondering if anyone else has taken ativan for these issues, and it so, has it helped? Also, I am pretty sensitive to meds, is there anything I should watch out for?

I took ativan (lorazepam) before 2 of my MRI's.  It did help calm me down, and I did not have any problems with it those two times.  It is an anti anxiety drug, but it may also help with muscle spasms.  It may make you sleepy.  My primary care gave me a prescription for a few clonazepam which are also for anxiety.  I have read that they also help with spascity for those with MS.

Gosh i'm so glad to see that u'r doc called something in for u!! I'm not experienced with Ativan, but found these links that may be helpful. Hey I have been on both lorazepam and clonazepam both are very good but I do have one word of warning, extremely addictive! Please also be sure to know how it effects you before driving or anything. Let us know if it helps!
