I just decided to join the group. As few members, I am still in the dark, waiting for answers....I started having symptoms 8 years ago with diplopia, urinary retention, fatigue, paresthesia, electrical pain down my spine. It all went away after few days of IV solumedrol. At the time, the only test that revealed anything was the one for the bladder confirming demyelinisation. 4 years ago, some problems with my legs....appenrently proprioceptive problems ( positive Romberg test) but no fatigue. All the test ( MRI, evoked potential test and other blood tests...all normal) All the symptoms remained since then. Last June of this year, cerebellar symptoms worsened: legs are worse , and now the trunk is affected ( diminished postural control). My energy level is quite decreased ( I have been on sick leave since then) and also resting tremors on my right arm since July. My legs are tight and easily feel heavy and tired.
I am a single mother of 5 children (7,9,12,16,18). This time again, my blood tests, lumbar poncture are normal. I will have an evoked potential somatosensory test done this week. My neurologist has not chosen to have another MRI done....(last one in Jan.07...normal again). At least, I was told yesterday that he is extending my sick leave until the next apt in december. My work involves taking care of handicaped children as a physical therapist....like the shoe maker with bad shoes!!!!!
All this long story for one question: if my test this week is still normal, what else should I do?? I really need a diagnosis, if not my doctor will not be able to justify my absence at work....!
