Remember the thread about
intimacy? Well, I had my yearly appointment with my ob/gyn (which I had put off since my surgery!) and I discussed my problem. Granted, it's better than it used to be but still I'm not "normal." Well, I have no idea if this is related to my surgery but my uterus is tipped way back. I knew it was tipped but it felt like she really had to root around to get there. What happened--did it fall back into by butt?!? Then we discussed the problem I knew to be caused by the surgery she suggested 'pelvic floor physical therapy.' Did any of you even know this existed? I thought for sure I misheard her! She told me they have all kinds of tricks up their sleeves which she feels I would really benefit from. I'm glad to hear there is help out there but I can't help to laugh over it at the same time. Can you imagine..."honey, I'm off to go do my physical therapy on my hoo-ha." Or "no, I can't do xyz, I have physical therapy."
" oh really, for what?"
"my hoo-ha."
And of course my husband asks "how do you get a job like that?" LOL
Anyway, since I had never heard of pelvic floor physical therapy I thought I'd pass that on to you. Maybe a lot of you could benefit as well. Don't you just love the things they don't tell you before surgery?!?

Jen,
Oh my goodness, you're so funny, I'm rolling on the floor laughing right now!!
Would you do it at home alone or in a group setting, like a lamaze class?!?

That is too funny! If you get to class and they state that they have "tools" I want to be there to see your face!
"Sorry honey, won't be home till late, I have my va-jay jay class!"

Hi all you guys!
Well i have been doing pelvic floor exercises for as long as i can remember, when you have a baby through the normal procedure - vaginal, you always have to have physio after the delivery and pelvic floor is the one muscle you exercise, it's like holding in your PEE when you need to go PEE! You pull up and squeeze.
I am now doing those same exercises for my anal sphincter, to make the muscle stronger so that all goes well after my reversal.
Hope this was of some insight to you all. LOL LOL.

Ash,
You may want to invest in some vigina weights to help strengthen your pevic floor. You can order them at http://www.vaginalweights.com/
Happy squeezing ... LOL

Ash,
They work great and they force you to work those inner muscles. It is like having a personal trainer for your vigina....LOL (I can't believe I am discussing this outloud but I hope it helps)

Um...actually what the doc told me was not about
kegals!! The only two things she mentioned (I have no idea how many 'exercises' there are) were massage and dilation. I DO NOT want my hoo-ha dilated and can you just imagine the massage?!?!?! I think the massage is what peaked my husbands interest! LOL!

LOL on the massage, is somebody else doing this for you or you do it to yourself?
tmi for men, men don't read any further lol
I bought a pelvic floor exerciser, it's made of glass and it has different weighted balls inside it. You're supposed to start with the end that has the smallest ball first and uh stick it in there for lack of a better phrase... and tense your muscles to try to hold it in. I don't think I'm using it right because the whole thing is pretty heavy and the smallest size weighted ball is so small it just falls right out! it's like 3 cm wide you're somehow supposed to be able to "grab onto that" and hold the whole heavy rod thing up. Of course if you use it on the other end where the biggest one starts, then it's so big it stays in without you doing anything at all, so I'm not sure how well that weight thing works.....

its made of glass? that seems rather dangerous. I mean if you are putting it in there, and then squeezing it, which is disturbing enough on it's own, and then it's glass...what if it broke! what an ER visit that would be!

The vaginal weights I suggested are very light ans shaped like a mini tampon... shorter and more narrow. I have never heard of glass balls. That sounds like quite an experience.
