Showering w/out the bag...how do u do it?

I have taken 2 showers so far without the bag and loved it. They say to do it 1st thing in the morning to avoid it being active is what I have heard. One of the two times I took a shower fairly soon after I ate and it did not do anything. I was thinking that maybe it kinda "knows" because neither shower had anything come out of it.

I would just pop the bag off and jump in the shower with the wafer on when I had my first stoma, now the little bugger never shuts up so I use a mini bag and change it with my regular one when done.

On changing days I do like to take it all off and jump in the shower and massage the skin with soap (paper towels near by). But when I get out I usually have a heck of a time replacing the wafer because no matter what I try, it won't stop! I have even jumped back in the shower and it stops, jump out it starts, jump in shower-stops! We really don't get along! I just try to give myself extra time to get it all done!

Last week I changed my wafer before work and about 1/2 hour into work I felt something cold running down my leg! The paste had pushed out the bag even though it was locked and I had a mess all over my stomach! So I just told my co-worker I would be back and went home, changed and was back in 20 minutes (I only live 4 minutes from work thank God) But I will never change before work again, I will make sure I have time to make sure all is well before running out the door!

yeah i wimped out this time, but im going to try it around next bag change. Ash i dont know what this bag is made of, its not like the clear plastic, its the convatec opaque with like a white netting over it? i dont know. i usually use dove soap. does n e one know if that has residue? what soaps dont have residue?

How do I shower without a bag?... hmmm... I just take my bag off and step into the shower and turn on the water :) Seriously, that's what I do. If she starts spouting off while I'm in there it all goes down the drain anyway.

I have everything cut and ready for when I step out of the shower, I step out, stick a tissue over Harriet in case she decides to make a mess once the shower is over then dry my skin, pop the Eakin Seal on then put my one piece bag on - it's all done within 3 - 4 minutes (not including the time it takes for the actual shower :)

I've never used Saran wrap (Called Glad Wrap or just plastic wrap here in Oz) when I shower and don't remove my bag. It gets wet, I towel dry it, body heat soon dries out the wafer properly after I'm dressed.

I'm one of the lucky ones who don't have to shave either, thank goodness. I had my op as a kid and I'm guessing that as I matured, hair had the good sense to learn not to grow there :)
