Going Clipless

  So while i was at my surgeons office for a follow up, i mentioned i was having some problems  with the skin around my stoma. So of course there is a yeast infection going on ( oh the humanity of being a guy and saying you have a yeast infection) but little did i know i was using the wrong type of appliance and it was bruising the area around my stoma by putting to much pressure on that area. So after i got over the fact that is was my ostomy nurse who suggested that appliance in the first place, she came back in with a new type. Coloplast flat wafer ( instead of the cup shaped one that was pushing in to far) with the velcro type clipless close. Gotta say so far i like it. The bag doesn't hang down as far, which is nice. And it seems MUCH easier to clean, so i've already noticed that the smell doesn't seem to be there. Probably because the end of it just seems so much cleaner than the bags with the clips closure.

   This will be the first night wearing it, which is when my output is at it's largest.  I'll see how it holds up. 

  If it doesn't work, i'll be sending the cleaning bill to the nurse.  

slice, i like the clipless too...i used to spend like a half hour in the bathroom just trying to clean the tail of my bags w/the clips (until i started cuffing the ends, which u cant do with the clipless). N e way, yea i dig em too!

hiswill...yes it is mostly trial and error...i've been blessed to have gotten the right one on the first try...i've never tried n e thing else ( im talking manufacturers i use convatec) however i must suggest their moldable wafers! i started off cutting, which was really tedious for me in the beginning, with the moldable there is no cutting! it cut my changing time dramatically. I am now in love ( and to think i never thought that possible lol

slice u do know that the moldables arent pre cut right? thats why theyr especially great for shrinking stomas or irregular ones, it literally molds to ur stoma size, u just roll it back and presto! the heat and moisture helps it conform to your stoma and it swells up around as to make it stick out a little more

I LOVE velcro! I've been a Coloplast girl for 32 years and the first bags of theirs I used had these twisty tie type closures which I liked too. I've never been a fan of clips! Too easy to come undone or dig into unsuspecting flesh. When the velcro came along, I tried a sample and have never changed back! They're brilliant!

they sent me home in those clips and i did not trust them and they hurt, owwwie!

Gotta say       What in the world was i thinking using clips!!   These are easier to clean, more comfortable, and strange enough, doesn't seem to smell AT ALL.  I don't know why, and i'm not asking questions.

   Ostomy nurse put it on me on Monday.  Still have it on and i'm not sure i'll change it. Ok, i will change it.   Just got my new box of the clipless bags.

Thats right, not only @ssless, but now clipless.    

I clicked on the NuHope site because someone said there were pictures of people with hernias on that site. OMG- Mine isn't quite that bad, but I have ordered the elusive belt to shape my stomach up (I hope). Anyway, I signed up for a free bag sample from NuHope while there. Well, a package from NuHope arrived today and I thought it was "the belt"--wrong. It was the free sample--2 bags and one bulky clip!!! I will never use a clip again if I can help it. Velcro is so much better.
