Going for reversal surgery Wednesday - Any last minute tips?

Hi Friends:

I've had my final pre-op testing and it looks like a it's a go for my reversal surgery on Wednesday the 28th. I would really appreciate any last minute tips (what to bring to the hospital, what to expect, etc.). I feel ready physically and emotionally and I'm cautiously optimistic for a favorable outcome, but it would really help to hear from my ostomates.

Hi Richard,

Good to hear you are feeling so positive about your reversal, I felt the same way with mine 12 months in June.  I'm sure you will breeze through it but expect it to take a bit of time to get the bowels working properly.  I'm still a bit hit and miss but feel absolutely wonderful in myself.

Look forward to hearing from you when you come home again.

 hey i had my reversal surgery on april 4th.

now i am doing great. my bowels are still settling down and id say you can expect to go six times a day at least. that was what it was like in my experience but u may be different. also i caught c.diff after my surgery while in the hospital so that didint really help me! :-)

im sure you will do great. good luck for everything hope everything  goes well. :-)

All the Best to you during your reversal surgery..The time really flew by, didn't it? Good for you. How have you been feeling? What are your thoughts going into this surgery?

Hi All:

Thanks for all of your good wishes! Peggy, the time really did come quickly. I'm nervous but optimistic. I report to the hospital tomorrow at 6am. I've been feeling pretty good. Sometimes I wonder if I should be putting myself through all this, but, with the ileostomy, I still have the hydration problems & hopefully this will be the answer I've been looking for.

I'll try and post from the hospital to let you know how it is going.

I'm sure all our thoughts will be with you tomorrow mate and keep up the optimism it's great to have on your side. You will be so pleased once its all over and you can get back to living a much better life!
