Barium X-ray

Next week  I'm scheduled for a barium X-ray of my small intestine.  Since I have no colon, I'm assured that ridding myself of the barium afterwards will be no problem.  Since a barium blockage was one of the reasons I lost my colon, I really don't feel assured.  Is the procedure I face as straight forward as I'm told?  Has anyone else had this? And did you have any problems?  Is there anything I should know?

My daughter just had a TC on 6/5/08,and just last week they did a lower GI study on her .They used something that looked just like water,and I was told it was water based so nothing could form a blockage...some form of contrast,instead of the regular barrium. It worked out OK,most of it came out after the test,and what stayed in just absorbed ino her body...I can ask her drs what the name of that contrast was,so you can tell your drs that you want that kind instead of regular barrium.We are still in he hospital so when they come on rounds,I will ask,and post again for you. talk soon.

Hope your daughter is doing better. I have been following your post and know how hard it is on you. It has really been along time for her. When will she be able to come home?
Please let me know what they used for your daughter.
I kind of scared to drink anything like that as I have had blockages before.

Had the test Monday, and everthing turned out ok. Boy, I was kind of scared to drink that stuff as I really had proublems with it before as that is what causeed me to have my iloestomy.

I do have a good Doctor that really works with me and is always there for me. Feel verry lucky to have him there when I have proublems.

Hope this finds you feeling better after your blockage problems. Have been reading your post and am thankfull you are doing better.
