Ileostomies & eye infections

I need help please!!

My mother has had a permanent Ileostomy since 2004.  Just recently she started having eye pains.  She described the pain as a sharp burning feeling.  She is diabetic and also has high blood pressure and we thought maybe that is what might have been causing this.

She went to an Eye doctor a few days ago and was told that her eye problem is all tied into her Ileostomy.  The constant diarrhea and etc is the cause of this.

Has anybody ever had this problem before?  Any help would be appreciated.

That is all we were told.  The severe dehydration, along with the vitamin deficiency and diarrhea is now starting to affect one of her eyes.  She just complains of pain inside along with swelling.  The Dr. prescribed some eye drops.  She started to use them yesterday and since then, she is getting some relief.  She lost 90% of her intestines and has to have an infusion every 10 days at the hospital to replace all of the lost vitamins and minerals.
