Barium shakes suck! But I downed the 2 bottles 1 hr apart and had the CT scan run...im swelling up like a freakin beach ball but i have hope that this will all be over soon. I hope 6 more days till my dr. appt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im livin on cheerios, apple sauce ramon noodles and pbjs that s all i can stomach... My Ed therapist is gonna be pissed but I am doing good to eat at all so he can shut up I'm sick i try as hard as i can. Gotta hang on

What happens after surgery- 5-6 day stay in hospital, and what goes on during that time in hospital???? Does chewin gum really help w recovery? any other tid bits of info... I'm tryin 2 learn all i can b4 i decide to go through this... weighing out the pros vrs cons type deal... r there more negs thn positives? I am gnna hv the surgery becuz i hv no other choice honestly at this point.

chewing gum can give you gas, so i dont' know if i would do that or not. Anyway, things you may want to take to the hosptial are antibacterial, or alchol wipes for your hands, some lotion, chapstick, eyedrops, the air in rooms is very dry! also, take a Gameboy if you have one, will give you something to do!

portable dvd player if you can get one! I had lots of trouble sleeping and it was wonderful. Don't know what you're talking about with the chewing gum...I avoid it because of gas also.As for what goes on during your hospital stay...lots of poking and prodding, they will teach you how to change your bag etc and lots of boredom. What I hated was getting those shots every four hours...did anyone else get those? For blood clots? My arms were bruised for months!!

if you can get them too, ask for a picc line, if you dont' know what that is, it's a thing they put in your arm that they use to draw blood from and put in meds, rather than always sticking you.

Only certain nurses can access the picc line. I have one, and ended up having the shots anyway. Every four hours for seven days.....AUGH!!!
