What is taken in a total colectomy

Hi, all.  I just had a total colectomy 3 weeks ago and having a heck of a time recooping.  I'm concerned about having to wean myself off of the pain meds.  I'm still in a lot of pain and would like any advise on this being I only have a few days more on the meds.  Also, how is life after a colectomy?  How long do the spasms last.  Is there pain in the urinary tract?  How long before the bladder pain and spasms go away.  What seems to help?  I welcome all who can relate with me on this.  I'm feelin very alone confused

My advice is to walk, walk, and walk some more. If you're having true bladder spasms, there are drugs specifically for that. The pain meds are hard on your system, so it's best to get off them as soon as possible. I just took Tylenol when needed, but my colectomy was done laparoscopically so not much pain at all.

Mine was done laparascopically also.  So why am I in so much pain.  I also suffer from fibromyalgia and diabetes.

Have you called your doctor to let him/her know that you're still in a lot of pain?
