If I ever need a good cry and a feel good in the end kind of movie, I watch Shawshank Redemption. Morgan Freeman's narration gives me chills each time he explains how the human spirit cannot be broken.

On my DVR are: Heroes, Fringe, House, Private Practice, Ghost Hunters, Top Chef, Grey's anatomy, True Blood, Entourage, and Family Guy. LOST will be added once it come back, too of couse!

Movies: I love cheesy chick flicks, like Dirty Dancing, The Cutting Edge, The wedding Planner, etc, etc... I alos love Office Space. funniest. Movie. Ever.

My other intrests are football (Niners), Baseball (Giants, hence the screen name), Hockey (sharks) and Rugby. I played Rugby in College, I definitely don't anymore, but it has nothing to do with an ostomy! I just got too old after 30! LOL.

That's a great credo to live by Vetteguy! I remember those words vividly. The first time we watched Shawshank, we had no idea we'd blown away by such a dark topic - prison. I sat my oldest daughter down a few months ago and said she had to watch it. She kept hearing about it but each time the movie was described to her, she said it didn't sound like her typical movie genre. It's often a nice and rewarding surprise to branch out from the typical movies you tend to watch isn't it?

Hey, has anyone watched the UK version of the Office? Not to derail this topic into a heated debate on which is better - UK vs US versions - but the UK version is excellent. British humor at its finest. If you like the current US version of the Office, you will like the UK version! And their seasons are much shorter than the US ones. So you can rent both Series 1 and 2, and then the Christmas special (90 minutes I believe) and then you're done. Not like renting an entire season of a US show. You're looking at roughly 12 episodes, plus the xmas special. My family and I rented the UK version from our local library and watched the entire series over a weekend.

My hubby and I love 'Office Space', too! Every time he takes a 'mental health day' from work, he'll quote the movie by saying, "I did absolutely nothing today, and it was everything I thought it could be!"

Well, so much for being a lady of leisure... this puppy has got me hopping! We've had him only four days, and every muscle in my body is hurting. I'm determined to potty train him, and so far he hasn't had one accident in the house. I'm also teaching him how to walk on a leash.

He's even learned how to sit on command, so I'm thrilled with how fast he's catching on to everything. I learned a lot about dog training from watching Cesar Millan on "The Dog Whisperer" show... he says they need exercise, obedience, and affection. So far, so good! 

i love that show, lol. I haven't watched it ina while though.

I have always been terrified of butterflies and moths, and now i see that fears are not unfounded, lol.

Our youngest daughter is home from college and she's been playing guitar hero a lot too. Both my daughters joke I should try it but the last time they talked me into a game was playing the Sims, I sat down around 2 p.m. on a weekday to "build my house", choose my family and the next thing I knew it was dark already (this was after xmas) and hubby walks in the computer room to ask - hey what's for dinner? Dinner? That's when I knew I had blown 4+ hours! LOL After that I turned the game over to my daughters.....it took too much time to play!

But back in the day I played Sim City II a lot - I could build a successful city in under an hour or two and do it without cheating. Took me a while to figure that out (cause cheating took some of the fun away). Another game I enjoyed playing was Oregon Trail II. Both SCII and OTII were quick escapes!

Great thread! I just got my internet connection back up and running this weekend. We just moved into our new home last Saturday, and were w/o internet and satellite all week. I borrow movies from the public library all the time... this weekend I got Feast of Love, Ed Wood, Fracture, Witless Protection, and Michael Clayton. I have several more on hold, picking them up tomorrow. Oh yeh, also watched Ironman last night on blu ray. My DH just got us a 52" LCD... we have been waiting and waiting for the price of them to go down and decided to take the plunge. I'm sure that we will be watching a lot of TV in the time to come, esp since he will be retiring on disability very shortly (ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease).

We both really like Memento, Fight Club, love comedies. Not much into scary stuff, I have nightmares - always have. We also just recently started watching wife swap --- just for the laughs. I like Jon and Kate plus 8, all NASCAR events I can find on TV; DH loves football so we have a battle over the tv during the end of NASCAR season! I love House, CSI type shows but I haven't been able to watch much tv over the last year and a half while we have been working on our new home. I can't wait to get back into a routine over the winter.

Love Johnny Depp's Pirates movies and What's Eating Gilbert Grape is one of my favs.

Hey all........had to log in AGAIN. It takes me at least 4 tries, with my correct username and password, to log in again. And it only lasts about a week or so....

Anyway, this was a fun thread indeed. I've enjoyed reading all of the replies and what people are into watching (and playing, either online or play station).

That said, my daughters 18 and 21, wanted to watch all the Friends' Thanksgiving episodes over the holiday break. By now we have every season but one. So it was a slew of Thanksgiving "specials".......they finally got them all watched by Sunday night. Friends is just one show I always laugh with and at. An instant 30 minute escape!

Recent lost-lost TV show reruns my husband I have stumbled upon are 3rd Rock from the Sun and Alf. Don't laugh - Alf was FUNNY! Of course my daughters think that it's hilarious that we were EVER into Alf......but they agree, 3rd Rock was funny too.

Does anybody like to watch stand up on tv? I just saw the funniest guy ever, his name is Kyle Cease. I usualy watch last comic standing but i jsut started watching random stand up.

I've seen him on Comedy Central. And ,thanks to your post, I just watched a few clips on youtube. Funny stuff!

there was a show on tv just now that counted down top holiday movie moments, and one of them was from planes, trains and automobiles, where steve martin and john candy are driving on the road the wrong way and the people are trying to tell them, but they think they the people are drunk and the the trucks come.

I thought of ya'll when i saw that, lol.
